Cool re: 1rst Annual "Tail of the Dragon", Crossfire Meet -

Yeah I think we're gonna have great weather, it was 93 in Raleigh today. I'd like to make the run top down/tail up if at all possible, but I do have the wife to consider. I'll add y'all to the list as soon as I figure out the instructions, LOL! I am not exactly computer literate, LOL! I am still working on getting a small package together to videotape each run and any gathering periods in between, DV Widescreen. I have three camera mounts so if anyone has an extra "light weight " camera we could use let me know...I will have at least one extra mount and would like to shoot the run w/three different views for editing.

Just made our reservations at Fontana Village for the 9th and 10th, so my wife and I will certainly be there. I look forward to meeting other owners and learning more about my new '04 Coupe.

Will be taking the car into the mountains around Boone and Linville this Saturday for the first time. Except for what I expect to be heavy fall sightseeing traffic, I can't wait to get the car into some nice mountain roads to explore.

Cool re: 1rst Annual "Tail of the Dragon", Crossfire Meet -

Glad to have you aboard Bob...we are really looking forward to this trip and GTG. On a side note I have purchased a couple camcorders and on car camera mounts to video tape the runs. Hopefully edit down into a ten-fifteen minute video for everyone. It has been asked, due to lateness this GTG will be a bit informal with everyone staying different places. I have to get the paint touchups completed on my Roadster today but will do some research to try and set some meet times and places for everyone. At this point we at least need an initial time and place to meet to decide what to do and when. Bill I think had mentioned doing two runs at the dragon on saturday with a follow up sunday morning for those who want to and those who couldn't be there the day before. Our plans are to do the two on sat, check out sunday morning do the run north again for pick up shots and then head back to Raleigh from there. Next year we can plan around any pitfalls we experience this year and be better prepared. I already have a T-Shirt design in mind for next year, it was just too late to do this year with the Car Show schedule etc...

One meeting site that might work is the Fontana Dam visitor center. There is a large parking lot there and restrooms are available. Fairly close to the Dragon and not too difficult to get to.

Yea, the visitor center at the dam is a great place. Plenty of parking and great view. Its very close to Fontana Village, about 1 mile up the hill. There is also a lower level below the dam with lots of grassy areas to park the cars, a little harder to find. If everyone is staying all over the place, the dam would be the best location in my opinion, because there are no other places to park along the route. I'm looking myself getting in on friday noon-ish. Haven't made any reservations yet, but that's still up in the air. Let me know if any help is needed and I'll see what I can do.

Well I just received one of my birthday presents from the future missus...and its Flyers tickets for 11/10...

She bought these long before we even mentioned something like this...so sadly I'm out for the 10th festivities...but hopefully I can watch Sydney Crosby get smacked around...and I'm planning on possibly heading down after the game...but more than likely VERY early on 11/11...

So I'm still in for at least a day of this stuff...

I think y'all have a winner idea there. Just let everyone know what time you will be there and we can meet. We will be getting in late Friday night, wife has to at least put in a half day. Meet ya'll in the restaurant for breakfast?

PS "We're Looking for a Few Good Men" or Women, to help with this Annual Rally?

Thanks for everyones great response this should be a very kool run & GTG! We are very much looking forward to meeting everyone and swapping secrets and stories by the fireside and hopefully not the roadside.
We are staying at Fontana Village in the Lodge and will arrive late Friday night, I am on cell phone if anyone needs to get ahold of me at the last minute or if you have problems on the road...not that I can do anything but you can let us know so we won't be worried at the initial gathering saturday morning at the dam. Any other questions please let me know, I am working on getting other ammenities located as soon as I can I will post these for everyone ie; car wash & directions etc...

I see I'm on the list twice (#29 and #36). The Boss (wife) made it clear when I got the Crossfire that my limit is 1 (after owning many Pontiac Fieros).

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but does friday 3 pm sound good to all who are arriving that day. Then on Saturday, meet at the dam at 10 am. Just a thought to get times and meeting places together. If anyone has any other ideas, just pan in and talk. Thanks.

I am in, I am also sending an e-mail to Killboy.com to make sure he will be out on Saturday.

I read there is a Porsche club coming to the Dragon that weekend but other than that pretty quiet.

I would encourage everyone to keep the crossfire get together on this forum, law enforcement checks the web to see who all is headed their way and the more posts to the "Dragon" websites the more LEO's on patrol.

The good news is that the 60K that was allocated to help patrol the Dragon is spent and when I was up there two weekends ago I only passed one police officer.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

OOPS! I will correct that in tomorrows update, Thanks...sure you don't want two? One to drive and one to race? My dealer just came up with a good deal on a pristine '05 Ram 1500 Daytona that I'm considering purchasing and adding to my growing collection...my wife did her best not to hear the suggestion tonight...well I need something to drive when the weather is inclement and jeez! I can't take the X-fire out on a rain/snow/ice day! LOL! That 5.7 Hemi sure sounds good filtering thru the Borla dual exhaust, Hee Hee!

Very kool...bring all you like, need not be a crossfire even, LOL! Although it might help shrink those Porsche ego's if we out do them, LOL!

See you there!
