2nd annual Spring 2009-Tail of the Dragon meet - April 3, 4, 5
Get well soon Eric - glad your going to be OK!
Eric,
Glad to see ya back here on the forum (and alive !)
I think from the looks of that wreck ya came out very fortunate with the extent of your injuries. Those pics are just plain scary !!
You guys both had a hell of a ride for sure.
How much do you remember about the accident ??

Eric, I'm glad to hear you're doing better, but what happened? Did this happen on the Dragon, or on your way home?
What's up with the "automatic" in the glove compartment?

Eric, get well soon. These cars will absorb a ton of damage and allow us to walk away. Glad you both survived because from looking at the car I would have thought that the issue may have been in doubt.
Doesn't look like that SRT is coming back to the Dragon, ever.
Hopefully, Eric and Travis do. Come back this fall in anything guys. You'll be welcome.
Glad you're coming out OK.

I mean, the entire roof is gone! Top of the steering wheel is missing. Jezzuz.
Funny how certain parts look just fine.
Eric & Travis, you are 2 lucky guys. I'm gratified to know that you're both still with us!
You are so fortunate to come out of that alive. Looking at the pics I just can't imagine how anyone would. No doubt these cars are built solid. I know you're hurting right now, but be patient during your recovery. I pray that all will be fine. You can always buy another XF.
BTW, I'd like to know what tires you had.

well I was driveing down 40 takeing travis home to fayetteville right befor i got to 77 it started raining super hard so we pulled off and took a brake (fell asleep for about an hr) woke up and the rain was stoping so we headed out agen right after we got past 77 it started to rain a lil more so i slowed down the speed limit there was 75 but i was going 60 i know cus i seen a cop behind a truck and a mustang so i looked down about 1/2mi past them i his a puddle on the begining of a turn but the bank of the turn was going the oposite way i tryed turning but cep going strate going into the median heading towards oncomeing traffic on the other side of the highway. I seen that and desided that was a bad way to go so i turned a lil more to the right and taped the brake a few times to swing my rearend to the left and around I was still going prity fast so i new it wouldnt stop us but atleast it had us heading the other direction. we crossed the pavement still spining. I almost had controlle untill we hit the grass I stoped the spin but we were still slideing sideways on to the grass then right into a tree on my side just behind the door. the next thing i remeber was 2 guys screeming at us through the windows the car was at a 30% angle on the tree and i was screeming at travis asking him if he was ok. he looked around a bit dazed but i wasnt sure there was alot of blood (come to find out most of it was from me leaning over him and it poring out of my head ) then firefighters pulled back the door on his side and drug him out and one came inside with me. he put oxygen mask on me and was telling me everythang was going to be ok.. then i seen them pulling out the jaws of life and start to cut into the roof. i told them i was ok and showed them i can move my feet telling them dude dont take the roof off see i can move my feet just drag me out and so on lol.. but thay cut it off then cut the steringweel to pull me out then into the ambulance we go

I was going to ask if buy the car back, I'll buy the wheels off of you, but they don't look like their in good shape. If the engine is, it would be interested to drop that in a limited. I hope you can get the pictures off of your camera (shown all wet, sitting on the seat).
Please keep us all up to date as how you are recovering, and any replacement that you may get for the car.

Again, glad you survived it.
Eric and Travis: You are two very lucky young men. So glad you came out of this alive. Be patient with your injuries and thank God everyday you are alive.

Very glad you guys are in reasonably good shape. I am so sorry about your car, but like the guys said - you can always get another one! If you are upside down in your car loan with no GAP, talk to your bank about doing a sub of colleratal on your veh. My favorite part of your pictures is the passenger side door held on with a stick & the seat belt. That is some country engineering!!!
Wow!
Hydroplaning with a short wheel base vehicle is nasty, the spin rate gets out of control really fast.
Sounds as though you did your best to regain control.
Glad to see you both survived!
