I'm planning to attend the CAA-5 this summer in Rifle, and will be traveling from Phoenix. My planned route will be I-17 North to Flagstaff, taking US 89N (about 62 miles) to US 160 (about 126 miles) to US 191 (about 290 miles), to I-70E into Rifle, Co. A total of 635 miles with 11 hours of drive time.
Looking for other possible Crossfire people to hook up with for the trip. Possibilities include CARLS, Roncosrt6, Tighed1, Hustler316, Jimmier, Matth1890, plus anyone else. I will probably be arriving in Rifle on the 5th or 6th, but could arrive on the 7th if anybody has travel/time constraints. I will be making a reservation trying to get a 2 queen room, and if somebody wants to share, let me know. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones....... Howard

Might possibly join you in Flagstaff. However, was thinking going up 550 through CO rather than 191 through UT. Also would probably make a 2 day trip out of it arriving in Rifle on the 6th. We are booked in on that night.

Hey Jim, Sounds good ... I'm booked in on the 6th also, Lets see if others come on, and their route. I have no problem adapting and even leaving for a 2 day trip. I'm easy, but I think the more cars we get traveling together and stopping together, adds to the fun and safety. Just sayin ......

550 over the Million Dollar Highway is a great route. You will certainly enjoy it.

 

This looks like a fun group to travel with, as the time gets closer let me know the planned times and we may join the run.

Jim .... that looks like a great route. Either Cortez or Durango works for me. Taking 550 North from Durango is supposed to be very scenic. It looks like maybe you and I so far for sure, but if CarlS and bblanchard33 want to join in, this will be our route. I'll probably come through Flagstaff and we could meet there. As we get closer we'll PM talk, trade cell numbers and decide on timing and location to meet. Cheers, Howard

Jim, I made a reservation at the Rodeway Inn in Cortez, CO for 1 nite on Saturday, July 5th. Positive reviews and not as expensive as rooms in Durango. Even if you stay in Durango, we can arrange a meet up on Saturday AM as I drive into Durango. Just Sayin......

Sounds good Carl .... This could work great .... The plan "could" be, that I would leave Phoenix on Saturday AM , and hook up with Jimmier around Flagstaff, and proceed to Cortez, CO. I would drop out in Cortez and Jimmier would either proceed to Durango or stay in Cortez also. Sunday morning I'd leave Cortez and hook up with you (and Jimmier, if he decides to stay in Durango), at an arranged location in Durango. From there, we'd all travel together to Rifle.....
Hope this all works out because it's safer to travel in a group, and makes the trip more fun.
