Check engine light

Was getting low on gas and the low level warning light came on. Parked the car for a few days, and when I started it up to go fill the tank, the check engine light came on. Owner's manual says it is OK to drive the car if the engine is running normally, so I proceed to the gas station and filled up. Check engine light goes out. Owner's manual doesn't say anything about the check engine light being tied into the low fuel warning light. Has anyone else had this happen to them or know if this is normal?

Re: Check engine light

~ usually the check engine light will come on if the gas cap is not secure/tight. once the cap is secure... the dash light will soon reset itself.
