Tail lights access???

'Ok, how the heck do I get to the tail lights so I can put my silvervision bulbs in? The owner's manual is a piece of crap in telling you how to do it. I can not find any access panel that the owner's manual describes.

Pull off fasteners that keep the side panels on. I think there are about 4 or 5. Pull off the side panels/carpeting, and you will have access to the tail lights.

Ok Thanks. They sure don't make it easy do they? I bet these engineers that design cars purposely sit around and discuss how hard they can make it for people to work on them. I really think they get off on it. :D

Actually if you have a coupe there are small panels that simply pop out that gives you access to the taillights. They are located right behind where your taillights are.

I didn't realize the roadster would NOT have these. I would agree that is VERY short sighted of the engineers.

It is really EASIER on the roadster than the coupe.
All you have to do is get the top in a position with the top up and the tonneau cover open.
Use a flashlight and you can see the bulb holders quite easily.
You will have about 20 minutes before the top pump releases it's pressure, so work fast or stick a cut-off broomstick between the cover and the rear window piece.

Put some duck tape at the end of a metal hanger and fish it out :) same thing happened to me last week and rescued the bulb this way!:)
And by the way, it is really easy to replace the bulbs, just stretch the cover in the trunk after taking out just 1 screw on each side and replace it (for roadsters, at least.)in 30 seconds.

Re: Tail lights access???

thanks guys
found out my problem wasnt only reaching it
but having a bulb that looks exactly the same other than the nub being on the other side
makes for difficult placement
now off to find brake pads
