Park Under a Tree or Under the Sun - what's better/worse?

Since I drive my xfire roadster to work everyday I face a continuing dilemma, should I park in the blazing sun or under a shady tree. Both have their respective downsides, what are your opinions?

I'd say park in the sun and get a good convt. top cover.

I would say it depends on the type of tree. Some produce a lot more sap or pollen than others. I would also look at how many birds like to hang out in the tree and are there any old limbs that look ready to fall.

Park it in the sun and get a car cover, or better yet get a beater to leave out in the sun all day and leave your nice car in the garage until you are ready to drive it.

Madhatter's got the right idea. I'm hanging on to a 12 year old Jetta just for that reason.

Re: Park Under a Tree or Under the Sun - what's better/worse?

I bought it to drive it. For 25 years I worked in NYC, a 3 1/2 hour daily car, train and subway ride. The nicest cars I owned were all only driven on the weekend in nice weather, and then for only an hour or 2. I sold all my nice cars because I never really drove them. Then a year ago I started working near home and was driving my son's Element to work (the H2 is a beast to commute in). And it hit me, get a nice reasonable car now and you can enjoy driving it everyday. Thus, the purchase of the xfire roadster. So... the xfire is now my daily driver. If you see a red xfire roadster on the road with the roof down and this big guy with a stupid grin on his face singing along with Il Divo at full volume, please wave because it's probably me!

Were you on the Southern State today at about 2:30 pm?
By the way when will you make the beach?

Drive it and enjoy it. Don't agonize over it, but buy a cheap car cover that you can heave over it every day. It may only last a season, but it will serve it's purpose.

I bought a $60 cover from Walmart three years ago and use it all the time in my garage. I don't like running the top up and down, so I leave it down and use the cover to keep dust off the car and out of the interior. Also protects it against careless kids who could bump into it.

Lose the H2. Too many carbon credits.

I spent a few extra dollars and purchased the "All-in-one Trunk-monkey" add-on option. I just push the button before I get out of the car, close the door, and the trunk-monkey does all the rest.

I don't even have to worry about the alarm/security system as the trunk-monkey does double duty.

No need to worry about a first aid kit either. Trunk-monkey has been cross trained in first response medical assistance in case of emergency.

I just toss in a banana every now and then.

Just be sure there is no alcohol around. Don't want a drunk trunk-monkey.

Go to trunkmonkey.com for more info.
