Default Roadster Noise When Closing

Just got my '06 Roadster Limited today & loving it. Noticed when raising the top the bar that goes through the tonneau cover which holds down the rear of the top below the window makes a bang noise when releasing from the latch holding it. Is this normal? Car had 12 miles on it & was in the showroom.

I asked the same question and the consensus seemed to be that the noise was normal.

NASCARHQ had the best response: "that's why they call it "POPPING" the top!!"

I no longer worry about it.

My dealer service rep told me it was normal and that it was the seal of the top to the rear deck popping loose (suction) not coming from the catch and not to worry.

Well I'm not sure that's the right answer, but it is normal. The top is pulled down by a hook, and puts pressure to make a seal between the roof and the body of the car, so when you release it, it makes that popping sound.

Thanks FP that's exactly what I meant but you said it a lot better.
