Ltd. Convertible or SRT-6 Coupe
So I am looking to sell my 1993 Corvette 40th Anniversary coupe and get into a Crossife of some sort. The vet has just been too much of a money drain and with one problem after another, I am scared of what may be next. I have found a couple Limited Convertibles near me ($20,000ish with about 10,000 mi) and one SRT-6 coupe (just under 10,000 mi for $21,000).
My dream would be an SRT-6 Convertible, but I think right now it is just too out of my price range.
Anyway, I would like to hear some feedback on which XFire would be a better choice for me. I liked the open top of the vet, which the convertible would have, but also liked the performance which the SRT would have.
I am 28 years old and live in Iowa. This would be a 2nd car for me, so I know that it does not need to be good in the snow or poor weather.
So, Convertible vs. SRT:
Does one have more expenses than the other?
Is one more reliable?
Are there more common problems with one than the other?
Will I like the openness of the convertible more, or the performance of the SRT more?
Anything I am not factoring in?
Any input would be great. Thanks!

I'm a new xfire owner and I purchased a limited roadster. I researched both and tho the srt 6 would be more fun to drive the fact that production has stop on these cars made the ltd make more sense. Repairs & parts will become scarce and expensive and since the srt 6 is a special edition parts may not be available down the line. Plus cost of ownership is less in the limited, and they're fun to drive also. The difference is a dragster vs. a track car.
Love my Limited!! And I drove the srt 6 loved it too!

I picked up my Ltd. roadster about a year ago, so far it has cost nothing to run. This is my daily driver ,other than when it snows, and have found the car to be a blast to drive. Spent a great deal of time looking at all convertible options, from a Jag to a Sky, before I decided on the Crossfire. The reason I did the Ltd was the interior - I didn't want the sueded seats, and I wanted wither the vanilla or cedar interior - which automatically ruled out the SRT - while I would have loved the additional power - I have found the Ltd. to be just fine. I just did a 250 mile business trip today and while it might not be as quick as a vette of the SRT it will move from 75 - 110mph in no time. It will boil doen to what do want and you can't go wrong with either. I spent a couple of years in Cedar Rapids and with the mile of empty and straight roads out you will fly in a Crossfire.
There's nothing better than a convertible with a 6-speed. If only they made the SRT6 with a manual, I would be $10k poorer and have only one car.
Now, for a little more than the price of a new SRT6 roadster, I have one of each.

The power of the SRT is too enticing to pass up. I have both a base roadster and an SRT6 coupe. Hands down, my opinion is the SRT is where its at. SRT's can be had in the low 20's. I paid 7 months ago 24,600 with 56 miles for my SRT coupe.

I've had both. Srt power is great but you can't beat a roadster for a second car. I voted Ltd.
Unless you will be raceing, the Ltd will have enough power for cruiseing and normal street driving.
I have a roadster SRT though and you wont get it away from me.

Let me go behind the reinforced steel barrier so I won't be stoned to death by SRT owners before I write my reply...

Okay, I'm safely behind the barrier.
I love manual transmissions. Having a 6-speed in my roadster is pure joy. I traded in my 90 Vette that was a 6-speed manual. I too traded it because it was "nickeling and diming" me to death. Besides that, it was starting to become unreliable. That didn't sit well with me so the car was going, no matter what.
Back to the 6-speed, and here is why I'm mentioned being behind the barrier. It is my opinion that it isn't a true sports car unless it's a 6-speed. I know the SRT's are rocket ships and they could blow the doors off my 6-speed roadster, but I wanted a sports car that was fun to drive and it doesn't get much better than having a 6-speed in a convertible with the top down cruising around. Did I add that at my last fill-up I averaged 26.5 mpg? I find my roadster to be quite the economy car.
I don't race my car. I just drive it because I like the way it looks, rides, handles, and all that other stuff. I was a street racer way back when but those days are long gone. I find my roadster accelerates quickly and will probably have less maintenance headaches than the supercharged cars as the car ages.
Now back to your original inquiry about what to buy. Will it be a Roadster Limited with a 6-speed? Will it be the ever-so-fast SRT6 Coupe with the automatic? I say buy the Roadster Limited with the 6-speed unless you are concerned about quarter mile track times and blowing people off at traffic lights. They are both extremely stylish but the 6-speed convertible is the best way to go.
Can I step out from behind the barrier now?

I voted limited because of the rag top. That said. I LOVE my srt roadster. I don't think I could go back on power but it's been clear and 75 to 80 drgrees for the last few days so the top has not been up.
Buy Both of them, for the " Best of Both Worlds!"
BTW If you had posted this Survey in the SRT6 Section(& not the Roadster Section), the results would be the opposite, I'm sure. (IMO)

I'm with SilverFox. If at all possible by both. The roadster is great and store the SRT. Convince your rich uncle that doesn't drive to buy the SRT and leave it to you in his will, it will be a collector car by then.
