I saw the post made by der graf, and after noting that the very last Crossfire made was a Roadster wondered which was the first and just how many of them are in the hands of members of the forum:

the last six number of my VIN are 30903 and it is listed as being built May 5 04 at 12:00 hours -Sapphire Silver Met

I wonna informate you about my correspondence with Karmann / Osnabrück. A few days ago I asked them for the information of the last building Crossfires by Karmann.
Today I received a letter from Osnabrück with these following facts which I wonna let you know :

- the final XF Coupe with VIN-Nr. 1C3LN69L98X076046 ; built in Dec. 17, 2007

- the final Roadster with VIN-Nr. 1C3LN65L38X076047 ; built in Dec. 17, 2007

- the final SRT-6 Coupe VIN-Nr. 1C3APE9N16X069067 ; built in June 12, 2006

048143. Built 10/21/04 @ 19:00 hrs. Sapphire Silver, Ltd., Manual.

 

First known Roadster is number 5X024111 believed to be a pre-production model built out sequence in Feb 2004 (Sold in BC Canada). Also according to Karmann 19 Roadster were produced in 2003 (Most likely test cars)

That's interesting I had no idea - thanks for the info - can I ask what the source was? I would love to document it. I knew it was special from the moment I saw it but it didnt even register that the early build date was even close to the 1st. Thanks MI1XFIRE

 

How many SRT6 were 2006? I thought they were only 2005s?

 

Just my own observation of first and last in different categories over the last 3 years, nothing official unfortunately. The best source to verify is Karmann but I don't think that you can't even rely on them anymore since they have gone into bankrupcy. Maybe Chrysler Canada could verify it for you.

Chrysler said a one time that about one hundred 2006 Model Year SRT6s were produced (before that they said they didn't exist......). I know of a total of 25 worldwide (15 Coupes and 10 Roadsters) about 16 are in the U.S.

 

Ok, so mine is 5X036751 - built on July 2 at 4 am, right? (Door tag says MDH: 070204)

I wondered just how "early" mine was - I hate to buy the "A" model of ANYTHING. Sounds like mine was well down the line, right?

 

Yes, you are correct about your built date. Yours was manufactured 4 months after the first known Roadster. I don't have an exact number but since the Roadster was new in this time frame, there is a good probability that a significant number of the production between 24111 and 36751 were Roadsters (in my small sample 35% Roadsters)

 

Mine is supposed to be a "2005", I wonder where in the sequence they became "2005"'s.

Or WAS a sequential thing? Could they be making 04 and 05's at the same time?

 

There were no 2004 roadsters - mine was one of the first built in feb 2004 for the model year 2005. (and I have had very few problems with it (ignition and oil changes only in the last 2 years)

 

Mine was built March of 04 last 6 of the vin are 026842 What can be gleaned from that?
MDH 031914 That would be March, 19 @ 14:00 hrs. 2 p.m. ?
Born date then would be 03/19/04 @ 2:00 PM

Yours is a 2005 Model built in 2004. The information I got is that the first sequential 2005 Model Year number is 25454. However I know of five 2005 Model Year Roadster and 2 SRT that have lower numbers.
