Lifetime power train warranty? Unless you are the original owner, forget about it! Purchased my buddy's 2008 roadster, 6k. He thought, I thought, lifetime power train. Well, read the info. To original owner ONLY. Even in-family transfers do not count! Beautiful car, would have bought it anyway. That powers train warranty is nice though. Covers a boatload of parts!!

I purchased a used 2007 CF with 42,000 miles. I then researched extended warranties and purchased from Chrysler, a 5 yr (or 100,000 mile) extended warranty, whichever comes first. In 2 years of owning the CF, I have submitted 3 warranty claims. You can research the extent of the warranty, drive train, etc., but my thinking was that Mercedes engines are expensive to service. I'm glad I purchased the warranty not to mention "peace of mind" for an extensive repair. They also reimburse towing (but limited distances) BTW, shop different Chrysler dealers, the warranty cost varied from dealer to dealer. Hope this info is useful. Oh yes, as for the emblems, my CF came with Mercedes emblems. Since the CF is basically a Mercedes, I have no issue with Mercedes identification. I get that the original CF sales failed for many reasons and only lasted 4 years with Chrysler dumping remaining CF on Overstock. To bad that they did not market the CF more successfully. I think it's a unique design/vehicle and fun to drive.

Since I was not an owner when this thread was started I will add my 2 cents now. To me it's a Chrysler, it was their concept, by their designer (although modified by a Brit for production). I think it's the coolest vehicle to ever wear a Chrysler badge and like it or not the car would not exist without Chrysler. At the same time the MB fans can make the exact same claim being that the car is almost entirely Mercedes Benz under the skin. You add in the fact that Karmann and not Chrysler or Mercedes actually built the car and you have the trifecta that makes the cars so unique. The fact that the stars actually aligned in that brief period in automotive history for the car to be built is kind of amazing. Being a Mopar fan I will never remove or cover the Chrysler badges but, I do have a couple shout outs to Mercedes in the form of a rear plate frame the reads, "Powered by Mercedes Benz" and tire valve caps with the Mercedes Benz logo. I also had a dash plate made that states the car is 1 of 1806 Base roadsters built in 2005 at the Karmann factory in Germany. That's me, I have no problem with others re-badging or de-badging their cars. It's those individual touches that make the cars uniquely ours, it's that concept the entire hobby is built around. I'm with Doc, "just have fun with it."

Y'all,
Read the last 11 years of commentary on putting a Mercedes Star on a Crossfire grill with some interest.
Ya got to admit, the original grill is what the youngsters would call "dated".
I noted that a lot of "today's" autos have a black grill (with or without chrome trim} and a chrome logo in the middle.
So, I got an eBay chrome wire grill, blacked out the wire, and stuck a 3.5 inch Mercedes Star smack in the center.
Subtle, not too big like those found on today's Mercs.
Works for me...
I was thinking about the Chrysler 5 point star, but Chrysler hasn't been the friendliest supporter of the Crossfire for a very long time.
Also, the only Chrysler marking on the car are the front and rear badges, the wheel caps and the steering wheel logo; And I'd already covered all of those with Andrew's stickers.
Now, I won't have to explain the whole Chrysler/Daimler fracas and that the Crossfire is a red-headed stepchild that really a Mercedes SLK 320 in a custom skin by Karmann. (Us older folks remember the Volkswagen in the Karmann skin called the Karmann Ghia, so it may be somewhat familiar).
Also, when I lift the hood (bonnet) I won't hear the "Gee, it really is a Mercedes!" comment when folks see the Mercedes Air Box.
And it goes well with the Side Emitting LED Daytime running lights and the Red "Flashy Thang" Center Brake Light LEDs.
So, as I said earlier - Works for me...

I really like the emblem below, but with the Porsche part removed. I think the ENTIRE reference in the badge is perfect, including the little "GERMANY" at the bottom.

I purchased my cf 6 years ago with marked up with mb emblems. Does not bother me a bit. The car was discontinued from what I have read was an identity crises and the sticker price. Those who own a cf enjoy maybe the oddity, I do. There are many other vehicles to enjoy. Also, some owners have customized the crap out of their cf while others want everything original. There you have it. Enjoy the ride, never reach the destination. Stop to refill along the way and keep smiling.
