i have the ltd 2005 roadster convertible.....it's black which means it always needs cleaning...its in chicago which means it always weird weather and needs cleaning....so i guess my question is

where do you get your crossfire washed?

hand car wash, touchless automatic car wash, automatic regular car wash??

 

One will become obsessed with this little task...

I've always had the luxury of having a house with a hose available. Plus, I enjoy giving my baby a rub-down ----- OOPS! Did I say that out loud?

Seriously, I've seen too many parts missing after going through brush-type car washes...and hand-washing gives me the opportunity to inspect for any problems that may crop up that need attention.

 

When weather permits I am up sunday mornings at 5:30 or 6:00 and start with the crossfire even if it hasnt been used, then my work car and then the wife's car. Looks like she is getting a mustang roadster for her fun car so that will join the lineup also. Hand wash with hose from garage.

 

I use to work at a car wash a few years ago and id take it thru there. most of the peices and parts that come off the cars are already lose. the wash i worked at used foam bruses so the dirt didnt get stuck in them and scratch the cars. i went thru there a month ago or so and it did a horrible job not even worth going thru for free. most of the time i hand was it though now.

how do you dry your cars after the wash i use a leaf blower works great never have to touch the car with a towel

 

try it one time you will never go back to the towel

 

I'm also in Chi-town.
I wash my car at home or at a single preferred high pressure spray wash.
After every wash I go over the entire car with "Adams" detail spray and "Adams" VRT on the tires.

 

i dry mine with a shammy however u spell it i use a micro fiber towel every now and then when the shammy leaves little peices behind.

 

I don't have the time to get a bucket and hose. The quarter wash is my best bet.

 

I do it myself at home... My boyfriend uses the leaf blower after he washes his Bike to get the water out of all the nooks and crannys...lol I never thought about using it on the car... I'll try it next time...

 

I use the leaf blower all the time. It saves time and towels. Only thing you have to watch is leave a little bit of water on the car so you can get the water spots. I went from using 4 - 5 towels to 1 to dry my car. Also get the water out of the window and door trim and the wheels. As long as it's 33 degrees or higher I'm washing the car.

 

the leaf blower works best with a good coat of wax the water will blow off better

 

I wash weekly and wax by hand. They're small and don't take much time. Since I have two, they both get washed weekly but waxed on alternate weekends -- equal treatment so they don't get jealous of each other.

I bought one of those soft rubber squeegees that the car places use to wipe water off the car. I go over the car quickly to remove the drops and one shammy wipes it dry.

We both have black cars so we hand wash them together. Then I grab 2 towels at the same time (ex-bath towels, no softener, no lint left cuz they're old) & wipe down my car. Doesn't take long. I use that black car wax from Turtle Wax, I think, and that really makes those little icky white spots go away. I use a blck towel for the top. Also hae a lint roller for the dandelion fluff that is magnetically attracted to my roof. Does not take long at all. Our cars are tiny.

 

Wash both by hand. It is the only time you look at the car with that focus and detail so you can make sure nothing has happened since the last wash. I also use the leaf blower spending a little extra time at the wing and under the doors. Always finish off with quick detail spray and wipe.I have a hard time saying I love the process but I do love the results.
