It's time for my spring oil change. Was happy I went to Advanced Auto parts. They have 5 qts. of our Mobil 1, 0w 40, and mobile 1 oil filter for $30. Of course mobile 1 doesn't make an oil filter for our car, so I got 2 filters for the wife-mobile. 10 qts, 2 filters for $60.

 

Great price!

 

They ran that special at the end of the summer. I stocked up.

Just got a flyer in the mail yesterday with the advertisment for the Mobile 1 oil. Going over there tonight.

 

Just tell them that mobil 1 doesn't make a filter for your car and they will substitute another brand!

 

Loaded up on this deal the other night, too. Thanks a lot for the tip! Had Purolator filters swapped in for the deal, as Mobil of course doesn't make filters for the Xfire. All set for my fall oil change a little early...

 

Since I only use the German oil filters, I buy my Mobil one 0W40 at Walmart for $6.47 a quart. Still a good deal.

Looks like Advanced Auto doesn't exist in California

 

Changed the oil for Dragon meet , 10 qts 0-40 for 46.00 Dollars now that was one hell or a buy!

Advance Auto parts wouldn't sell it to me at that price!!! I took the 0-40 up to the counter and the guy rang it up with the mobil one filter and he said I can't give it to you at that price...he said it was only the High mileage Synthetic or the Extended Performance Synthetic that was the $29.99 deal.

I won't ever go back to them again. This is the second time I have been discriminated against at this place. You see I am a bald white guy and this place is run and caters to those that are not...

 

Thats B.S. You should speak with a manager, I think it is your local store with numbsculls working there.

 

FYI I tried this and they said NO! Of course it was some younger kid but he explained it was a promotion through Mobil 1, thus no substitution. Get this: The deal is 5 qts plus a free filter. So I got 10 qts and grabbed just one filter (for my Audi). The kid said I HAD to grab another oil filter to complete the deal or he would charge me more! So I'm calling friends up, "Anyone need a new oil filter?"

I also tried to take advantage of this deal and they wouldn't give me a substitute oil filter. (Advanced Auto Parts, Burke, VA)

 

I initially got the same "no substitutions" response at Advance in northern NY. Explained that it was a Mobil promotion so they couldn't do it. I didn't argue, but wasn't going to buy the oil. So then the guy just grabbed two Purolator filters and did the swap anyways.

 

I'm not sure why the hassle? The local ad here clearly says

"5 quarts of MOBIL 1 Synthetic, High Mileage Synthetic OR Extended Performance Synthetic Motor Oil "

And the picture shows all three products?

Yep^^ same here. They are paper filters but, meh, I figure no harm...right?
