Engine Compartment Dust
I'm forced to park my 06 Roadster next to a vacant lot where there is perpetual construction going on. It's no problem doing my weekly exterior wash and cleaning the interior, but today I noticed how dusty the engine and surrounding engine components are. No oil or grime, just dust from the construction site. I was tempted to raise the hood and turn the hose on the entire engine and engine parts to rinse off the dust. Has anyone done this, if so, with the engine running or off ? Is there a better way to clean off dust from the engine and components ?

Re: Engine Compartment Dust
I have gently rinsed off the engine compartment and have had no issues.

I wash my engine bay almost everytime I wash my car. Just use a lighter spay when spraying around the fuse box and ecu.

Re: Engine Compartment Dust
I wipe mine down with some cleaning wipes. I am too afraid to spray water in there....

Re: Engine Compartment Dust
Try to avoid wetting the electrical components and around the air intake. I have even used a power washer, with a light spray nozzle, to get down deep on the inside fenders and lower engine block. I avoid the coils, battery, etc.
