Where Did All the New Roadsters Go???
Where Did All the New Roadsters Go???
Over the past month or so, a number of dealerships have closed. Two in particular--Integrity in Las Vegas and Archer in Houston--had large inventories of new 07 and 08 Roadsters. Neither one seemed particularly motivated to move them before they closed so I have to wonder--WHERE DID THEIR ROADSTERS GO? You would think they would resurface on EBay, Autotrader, Cars.com,or Craigslist but I haven't seen a thing.
Any theories? Has anyone seen other dealers picking up these cars or is it just too early to see them resurface?

rcompart; can you elaborate a little on your most recent post ?
1. Why do you believe Karrmann is having financial difficulties ?
2. What does OOS stand for ?
3. What list did you put 4 parts on ?
4. What did you mean by there would be less than 10 of some things in the
whole world ?
I'm not that good at reading between the lines I guess.

I'm not sure if any of you know who Jerry Reynolds is, otherwise know as The Carguy. He has a radio show here in the DFW and Houston area.
I forwarded your questions and this is the response I got.
Hey girl, great to hear from you, I am doing pretty well.
the cars were distributed to the remaining dealers. Some stayed in the area, others were shipped out of state. I don't see any chance of them being used for parts...by Federal law, a manufacturer has to make all parts available for 7 years minimum.
Hope that helps my dear!
:Edited to add his info incase canyone wants to sign up for his newsletter or listen to the show. You can get alot of good info.:

Re: Where Did All the New Roadsters Go???
I see where Karmann did file for bankruptcy on April 08, 2009. It was a Chapter 11 which means they will re-structure and stay in business. It looks like they are doing well in the U.S. with an technical center in Plymouth Michigan. Check out their US website. We do more than just convertibles and look for all the XF's on their website. For those close to their Michigan site one could drive in and have them repair the top, if needed.

1. Why do you believe Karrmann is having financial difficulties?
Filed Bancruptcy in April, Closed it's doors yesterday. 'Nuff said.
2. What does OOS stand for ?
Ordered Out of Stock - fancy way of saying unless they get a ton of orders for that particular part, it won't be made anymore or in Karrmann's case, they're no longer making parts, or cars for that matter, so start looking in the boneyard for a used one if it's something on that list.
3. What list did you put 4 parts on ?
See above...
4. What did you mean by there would be less than 10 of some things in the

I can't believe that for a car still being manufactured 2 years ago, it would have parts on OOS already and that there are other parts where there are only one or two left in the world.

Re: Where Did All the New Roadsters Go???
"had large inventories of new 07 and 08 Roadsters"??? Describe "large inventories". There ain't none of these cars nowhere. I've had mine for over a year and I've seen only 1 or 2 on the road since. You see a coupe every now and then but the Roadster is a very rare car.
Re: Where Did All the New Roadsters Go???
well, I'd say with Karmann closing its doors, the parts suppliers are going to dry up as well. I am sure Karmann outsourced just like US factories do...and this XF will become a "search the Junk yard" for parts type of car....so, guys, girls, keep crashing them, Ole' Doc needs some parts for the shelf....
