if it's not one thing its another
:( Gday again. I got the car booked in for them to have a look on march 9th. I am hoping it is still under some sort of warranty as the previous owner indicated that she was taking it back to her dealership in Victoria almost right up until we bought it off her last December.
Any way I have another problem is that both powered seats are not working now. Twice now I had this problem only to find that they suddenly work again. Just now I got in it to move it out of the garage and, guess what, the seats are not working again! My wife is starting to worry that we bought a lemon, but me, it will take a lot more than these minor things to put me off:) . Any suggestions ? Thanks Dave. |

Does that help? 1) The door is open (this is so you can move the seat and get your spare shirt out from behind the seat - I guess.) or 2) The ignition is on. |
Re: if its not one thing its another
check & change fuses !!! Sometimes they heat up just enough to open & shut off power without breaking !!! My turn signals did that to me !!!

Re: if its not one thing its another
The drivers seat will work for a minute or two after opening the door.
After that, you have to turn the ignition to the ON position to get them to move, if you don't want to close, and then re-open the door. This is the behavior on Bat's '08 Convertible. BC. |

If they are properly working the seats can be adjusted any time, ignition on or off, doors open or closed. If they only work when the doors are open then the diode indicated in the photo below has failed. If they only work when the doors are closed then I would hazard a guess that the diode laying alongside the diode indicated in the photo below has failed. The diodes cost $1 for ten, the relay costs $15 to $20 plus. You have to tear out the trim either way. The Relay part number is; MB #002 542 22 19 Siemens Part #72KD305 and mystery numbers, PA6-GF30 and A430303 The diode part number is SM4007 - SM means surface mount. I replaced mine with part number 4007 - these come with a wire at each end. I bent the wires and soldered them to the board keeping the diode flush with the board so that it still fit inside the relay housing. Seat relay removed from housing. https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle...f_DSC_0600.JPG Trim removed to expose seat relay. https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle.../DSC_05861.JPG |
Re: if it's not one thing its another
The driver's seats in both our Crossfires operate without the key in the ignition and the door open.

Re: if it's not one thing its another
I just did a test on both cars. I left the doors open until the interior lights went out. They were open for about 20 minutes and found that the seat controls still work.
Hope that helps. |

Hope that helps. That relay will get quite warm after a while, I could feel it get warm when I was monkeying around with it. I'll modify my previous post. |
Re: if it's not one thing its another
thanks for all the responces. after taking it out for a cruise last night the seats worked after about 15 min driving, which was a relief as I am 6ft tall and it was on the wife setting, she is 5'6' tall.
I had a look at the relay thread, I will Have a look under the dash. One question though, seeing I got right hand drive, would the relay be on the other side to yours?. We are just about to go on a Chrysler cruise I wonder if the seats will work!?. Dave:confused: |
