Crossfireforum may have saved my life this morning!
So this morning I finished my daily routine and got ready to head to work. I paused a moment and decided I wanted to double check something I had read on this forum. That few seconds it took to open the browser back up, locate the thread and find the post I thought about probably saved me from a lot of pain, could have even saved my life.
Not 3 blocks from home I am approaching a T intersection. Same as every morning. At the T I always turn right to head in the direction of my work. 30' from the intersection I hear a whoosh, and see a white blur flash across my headlights. The car was probably doing 40+ before hitting the intersection. Didn't brake a bit from what I could see. they tried to make a left to travel in the direction I had just come from. Instead they flew straight into the house I had just passed. Hmm, thats odd. One moment you see a car, the next moment, no car. I pull over, grab my phone out of my pocket and dial 911. Before they pick up I see a police cruiser sitting at the intersection the car just came out of so I hang up. The cop is looking left and right, appearing very confused (though they would never admit it). I get out and walk toward the officer and point at the house the car just converted into a drive through. Couple more cops show up and they catch the kids almost right after they flee from the house they drove into.
I always wear my seatbelt, and I know these cars are quite safe, but you just never know what could happen in any given situation. One thing is for sure, I am glad that I took a moment to browse this great forum again, or I could be in a lot of pain at the moment.
Here's a news clip from later in the day if anybody is interested.
Teen boys arrested after crashing stolen car into house | KTVB.COM Boise
It definitely woke me right up in a hurry. I went from being kinda groggy to wide awake in no time flat!
Thanks everybody for posting up such good info that I delay my day slightly to read through it lol!

Wow, that's unreal. You always here about people killed from just being in the wrong place at the wrong time and those couple of seconds could have changed everything. Scary how fast things can change, glad you paused for a moment, and that the cops got'em.
glad you made a full stop on that turn,, the paper said the police SAW the boys crash into the house,, see how the truth never comes out.. the truth"is a Citizen in a Chrysler Crossfire informed police, where the car had gone, as the police approached the house the boys took off running,
I know that (in the wrong place at the wrong time)

You know, I really hate to be the voice of negativity here, but by stopping to double check the forum before leaving for work you actually put yourself closer to danger. Think about it - you said you were 30' from the intersection when the stolen car blasted through it in front of you. Had you not stopped to double check the forum you likely would have been 2 minutes further down the road and never known anything about this. Instead, they missed you by 30', which is maybe a fraction of a second.
No matter how you slice it, though, it does make you think about those seemingly innocent little things we do every day, and how they can make a huge difference in our lives when it comes to timing. Fate is an interesting thing.

This is so true.

Strange how a sudden urge can change your entire life!
Very lucky for you indeed... How do the police/courts view car theft over in the States?
Over hear it's normally just a caution & the owner of the vehicle normally ends up out of pocket!
