slk350
I stopped by the local Mercedes dealer to take a look at the new 350. I was very impressed, it is a very very nice piece of automotive engineering. I find it funny though, our Chrysler dealers like to tout the fact our Crossfires are Mercedes engineering, yet the MB dealer flat out told me, while looking at my xfire roadster, that "MB had little to do with that Crossfire, not even related"
In my opinion, you can look at the 350 and see the similarities, at least I can. The price of the one I looked at was $55,000. I'll say this, they have an awesome sales brochure! where is the one for the Xfire?
won't be long until every other car on the road is an slk, just like the older version, at least here in Tampa Bay. The MB dealer has delivered 8 so far (1 month)and my Chrysler dealer has only delivered 4 Xfire Roadsters(6 months) Nice to be different!

I don't think the MB dealers like to admit that the Xfire is a derivative of the SLK320.
That sales rep didn't know what he was talking about if he said there was no relationship between the two. I honestly think he didn't want to admit that as they see themselves a step or two above the Chrysler brand.
Anyways, just look at the interior of an SLK320 and you will definitely see similarities in the dash, the glove box door, centre console, etc. There is no doubt that the drivetrain has been taken from the SLK320. The SLK350 is an updated version of the 320 with the engine being the main upgrade.
I believe this is the reason that Daimler Chrysler was able to sell the Xfire at a pretty competitive quality/price ratio because the foundation of the SLK320 had already been established, proven and very cost effective.
Is there anyone that would disagree with me on this?

Your defintly right but the MB reo told me the same thing, the one day I went in just to check on the new CLK class, and when i was there I went to the service desk, and told them that I had a crossfire, and the the Chrysler dealership I was going to to get my repairs really sucked and wanted to see if MB would honor the warranty issues, and the guy said that nothing is the same from the crossfrei and the SLK , he said nothing is the same engine and trans are differnent from the ones put in the SLK. I didnt even argue with him, but he was arrogant and I guess beacuse I am young he didnt think I knew what I was talking about, but thats okay beacause in 3 years when I go there, Ill slap him in the face with a nice fat check and do a burnout in the dealership parking lot with my SL. Cant wait for 3 years to see his face, when he is still working behind a service desk and I am driving a 140K car. Cant wait

The Crossfire is all Slk under and inside only reskinned. The SLK platform shared with C class Mercedes. The largest volume platform ever sold by Mercedes Benz !
Also I'd rather have 2 Crossfires than 1 350SLK !! for $55+ t&l
