You either have to paint it or wrap it or hydrographic dip it. No such thang as black OEM surround. They were all silver from the factory.
Heck it's almost impossible finding the silver ones..!!

I don't think that's entirely true, I've seen many for sale that have black bezels and they all look the same.

My bad... I guess the base models did come with black surrounds. Still, you'll probably have to find a wrecked base to salvage the surround.

Well in the event that I would need to wrap it paint it, do you know how to remove the 3 pieces?

The base and SE models both had black surrounds

refer to this thread for instructions :

Your options are to paint them, wrap them, or trade with someone who has a base model who might be interested in the silver.

Is it my monitor, or are the pockets in the wheels painted black?

It's not your monitor. The red base is a special edition (SE), and includes SRT-6 wheels with painted pockets.

Hmmmmm - I read somewhere that the SE had 'special' wheels, not exactly like SRT6 wheels.
I could be wrong.

They are the same as the SRT wheels, just painted between the spokes.

Start with the center piece first near the junction where it meets a side piece. Begin by pulling up, away from the glass. I suppose you could use something to pry with if you cant get it up far enough to get a good grip on it - I'd suggest prying near the glass because a pry tool is less likley to damage the glass than the paint. I didn't need to pry with a tool but you can if you want.

There are 5 clips under the center section, also 5 matching clips attached to the car. Clips are attached with double-sided mounting tape. When I pulled mine off most of the clips released from each other as they should but a couple of the clips clung to each other and the mounting tape is what released. Don't worry about breaking clips (they're steel) the worst that can happen is the mounting tape will come off. If that happens, clean good and use new mounting tape to put the clip back where it belongs. I don't want anyone adding to the thread about losing surround pieces while going down the road. Once the center section is off you will have the confidence to yank off the side pieces in the same manner.

I have not done this before, but from the shape of the clips, it looks like the upper trim piece will release from the clips easier by prying up from the back.

You may be right. I think the original contributor was just concerned that anyone trying to pry from the top may dent the metal as apposed to prying from the glass side. It's been so long ago but I seem to remember that I only had to get under the edge on top and pull up to get the first clip to release and the rest came up with no problems. I originally pulled the top portion of mine because one of the clips was seperated from the taped backing on the clip. I opted to apply RTV to the clip and let cure and all has been great for a couple of years now.

Syfi, A new post today about trim coming off included a picture of the clips together. I think your suggested method is correct. I copied, zoomed in, and cropped that picture. It appears that at the back of the two clips (top of photo), the bottom clip folds over the top clip which would make it difficult to remove first.

Nice! If you could get a plastic pry or even a flat screwdriver and push on the clip at the bottom of the pic, it should pop right up and off. ;)

Thanks for everyone's help. I was going to try to wrap myself but I just don't have the time and I can't find anyone in Fort Myers Fl that will quote me a price so for now it's on the back burner.
