Exclamation HELP! Top Pump Assembly Cross Reference to MB

Hello All,

I read through many threads but found no answer to my question. Found out I need a pump assembly 5142638AA. Does anyone know if MB has the same pump in the SLK? If so in the 280 or the 320? I'm not paying Chrysler's part price!

I also need the wire harness as the water corrsion did it in. Since I am taking the pump out, does anyone know the part # for the "O" rings? or the part # for the harness?

THANK YOU!

The pump will have the Mercedes number on it somewhere, you'll be lucky to find a Chrysler number on it.
This would be my guess, 170 800 00 48, maybe, maybe not.

So its not simple, like any SLK 280 or 320 pump will work? These are the two MB models the Crossfire is based on, right?

Yea, our cars are based on the 320 - but the 320 is a HARD TOP convertible and it is configured quite differently.

I am unsure that the exact same pump would actually fit but I can't say for sure. Ever watch the '320's top do down? The sequence is very different from ours.
Now, this does NOT mean that the electronics don't turn different valves on and off at different times - so maybe it IS the same pump/valve unit, just sequenced differently by the Top Control Module. I just don't know.

"TopHydralics" is a guy who shows up here a LOT, he knows the system better than anyone. I'm sure he will show up in a day or two and can speak to this question better than I can.

Until he shows up, just put the top up and down manually!

jeffm210,

the convertible top pump for the Crossfire is unique, and it does not match any other pump on the market. The Mercedes part number reference would be 1938000030, but this is specifically a Crossfire pump.

Top Hydraulics rebuilds these pumps: see http://www.tophydraulicsinc.com/en/c...ulic-pump.html

Sounds like you had a serious water problem?

You don't have to replace the o-rings on the hydraulic hoses when you take out the pump, unless the o-rings get damaged during the process. Check out g3air's thread for detailed photos of the pump removal process: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ic-system.html

Have Klaus rebuild it and be sure, or take a shot in the dark and get a used one from car-part.com ( Convertible Top Motor ) - range from $80 to $1300

Are you feeling lucky ?

I don't want to mislead anyone: I don't own a Crossfire, just various Mercedes roadsters. I like Crossfires, but my driveway is already full of cars...

Top Hydraulics rebuilds pumps and cylinders for over 30 brands of modern convertibles now, and I can apply a lot of general knowledge about hydraulic convertible top systems that way, plus I have learned a lot reading through the Crossfire service manual and supporting some Crossfire customers, such as g3air. I have been on the forum a lot when g3air ended up taking out his whole cabriolet hydraulics and created the awesome thread that is now in the stickies: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ic-system.html.

Hope I can be of help in the future. This is an excellent forum, and readers are lucky to have some very experienced and willing contributors like yourself - I don't want to single out certain great contributors on this forum and accidentally leave someone out.

Klaus
