key programmimg
hi was wondering can anyone help with a key problem i have ?
i replaced the keyfob cover as the misses broke the original when she slammed the front door with the bunch of keys still in it . swapped every thing over fine ,didnt damage anything internally when i did either the fob opens and locks the doors no problems turn the key in the ignition and the car starts for 2 secs then cuts out . it all works fine on my other key so im guessing there is now some kind of issue with the code in the key ?? any ideas plz? |

Re: key programmimg
yes
i swapped over the whole internals of the case |
Re: key programmimg
Well that was the depth of my input . . . Sorry.
I have the opposite problem. I did the switch over on two different old key fobs into new fob cases. Both cars start and run fine but I can't get the new fobs programed to lock / unlock on either fob. I know I didn't damage the printed circuit boards and everything worked from the old damaged fobs. So as I said, I'm no expert on this. I'm still trying to learn. :( |

Re: key programmimg
With key in the ignition press either the lock or unlock button twice on the fob. Turn ignition on within 30 seconds wait a few seconds and turn it off. See if that doesn't work

The OP said in post #1 the fob unlocks and locks the doors so this is not the required action, this action just pairs the car to the lock/unlock fob function only. He has lost the transponder chip.
Hey Cobraken, Thanks but I've tried programming the key fobs like that and no luck. I think the batteries are not making contact / powering the printed circuit board. I've put the key fobs away as they are now just my spare keys anyway. I will try to tackle that issue again at a later time. Appreciate your attempt to help . . . |
