PlastiDip on soft roof

My soft roof is in not good condition. Previous owner dirty it around window glue for glass. This is not possible for clean it.
Now I have idea for PlastiDip thin layer all soft roof for better looking.
What do you think about this?
Someone has already done the same?

I haven't seen it done, but if the fabric is properly cleaned-it may work.

Is the rear window still sealed?

Have you looked into replacing the top yourself? They cost ~ $1200 (plus shipping from the US), but the work is fairly easy...

I bought this car for about $6500 and I not want pay $1200 only for roof, this is too much for me.
In my country is only few Crossfires cabrio and I not have many solutions or informations about this car. I looking also to SLK forum.
I can buy used roof for about $750 but this is last solution.

Maybe you are right but I would be suspicious of two laminated materials acting against one another when folding. I suspect that they would separate and leave ridges where the Plstidip stretched and stayed stretched.

On the outside you could try scraping off the excess sealant and redye the top black. The interior is another story.

Maybe in next year I buy used roof in better condition but now I must do something for better looking.
When this glue: http://app-autolackierbedarf.de/file...uze/040531.jpg dirty cloth it's over.
I tried everything for clean it but always defeat.

Re: PlastiDip on soft roof

I make test on other similar material and this is not good idea. Material + PlastiDip is rough.
Now I have question: where can I buy soft top for my car?

send an IM to maxcichon, he bought a third party one for around $1000 that has the rear window sewn in a pocket so it will never separate, plus I think he got a lifetime warranty.
