Default Automatic transmission fluid check

Okay . I have searched and still am confused. I have 2005 Crossfire Limited Roadster. I can't find any tube with a black cap and a red pin. When I look down on the transmission from the passenger side, all I see is a round black cap right on top of the transmission housing. If that is the right cap, how do I check the fluid level ? Thanks

I won't own a car with an automatic transmission, so I can't do you a lot of good.

But this comes up a lot, here is just one thread on the topic:

And another:

Okay, I found it. It's located just behind the engine cover on the passenger side.
I've attached a pic for anyone as blind as me.

Make sure you reference the temperature charts in onehundred80's links to make sure the level is correct.

The red plastic pin you refer to would normally from the factory be black (#7 below), it would NOT be red unless it was replaced at a later time, and is a good indicator of a tranny service being performed at some point, also the black factory pin usually has the top tab broken off from periodic fluid checks. You can use a flat head screwdriver in that case and push it in and down and through, using your hand below it to catch it as it comes out.

Also you need a special dip stick to measure the fluid level, there is no dip stick in there from the factory.

On a side note if you have a tranny leak at the tranny dip stick tube where it meets the tranny housing, there is an o-ring (#5 in pic below) there that dry rots, and it can be replaced, the dip stick is only held in by a 10mm bolt on the side and a E14 inverted torx on the bell housing, passenger side, accessible through engine bay behind and lower of the right side cylinder head. Plenty of room to work with, very easy to do.
