Front Speakers just ain't enough - need a sub
Hello fellow roadster owners,
I was wondering if anyone has thought about the possibility of adding a sub to their stock stereo system. I'm pleased with the fidelity of the system, but there's just not quite enough power, especially when the top is down going down the highway.
One big problem - there's nowhere to put a sub or an amp for that matter.

Yea, it already has a subwoofer and an amp. Maybe you need a bigger/better subwoofer then. I think the stock sound system actually has too much bass, but maybe a better head unit can fix that.
As far as I'm aware, there is a head unit (Infinity), 2 front full range speakers, 2 tweeters and 1 amp for each side. There is no sub-woofer that I'm aware of. That's what I want to add.
Behind the seat would be a great idea, but I don't believe there's room behind the wall. I looked back there and there's quite a bit of stuff mostly for the convertible top operation.
Let me know what ya'll think.
Re: Too much bass - you can lower the bass with the audio button.

i think the limited has a better sound system than the base model. I don't know what either one has for sure. There was another discussion about the sound and some said the limited stereo was different.
I have the navigation radio and it has a sub-woofer behind the seats. If you move the seat back forward you will see a grille opening on each side. The radio has settings you can set to increase or decrease bass response. You will need to follow instructions in the manual to do this. Also, leave a little space behind the seat back to let the sound out. I get plenty of bass out of mine. The nav. radio has 240 watts.
Does Anyone Know What The Size Or Sizes For Those Supposed Stock Subs Are. I Would Love To Amp Or Replace Them. But Was Wondering If Anyone Knows The Dimensions?
One of my front door speakers on my 05 limited is blown & dealer wants $400 in canada. Stereo shop said infinity is a dealer item?
Can anyone tell me the model or size or were I can buy an aftermarket speaker?

Where to put amp? Check out under the trunk panel -- the "styrofoam" form that holds the tire sealer and pump has some open spaces and/or it could be cut. Not doing it myself....just suggesting. Heat retention may be a problem, tho.
You already have subs and they sound pretty decent. The problem is the crossover (or lack there-of) to the door mid-low speakers.
Go to the stereo section of this forum and read the sticky on a simple mod installing capacitors inline with the door speakers.
I did this last week and it's like a whole new system. I can krank the system waaaay up now and it sounds great!

Don't pay $400 for a speaker. Is this the little tweeter or the midrange? (And is yours a base or limited car?)
I can take the access door off and measure impedances - we can go from there. I can't believe it will be THAT hard to find a speaker. Once we get the size, impedance and power rating worked out, there are several places to go to buy a speaker.
Speakers are speakers.
