Roadster won't start
The other night, my crossfire cranked and went dead after about two seconds. Now when I try to crank it every light on the dash comes on and the fan sounds like a plane taking flight. Something similar has happened in the past, where it wouldn't crank. (I don't recall if the lights all came on and the fan raged.) The fix those times was to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The first time was about four or five years ago. The second time was about two months ago. I remember reading these things like to act up when they get over heated. Most recently the car at least cranked after sitting a couple of days, but no such luck this time. I'm at a loss. Does any one have any suggestions, or advice? Thanks in advance.

Re: Roadster won't start
This time I believe it is the RCM. It is plug and play. Send the old one to DJ for a rebuild and keep it as a spare.

New RCM, I have this one in my 07 Send the old one to DJ Tighe for a rebuild and keep it as a spare, they also have the Bosch crankshaft sensor in stock part number P/N: 0031532828, if both have not been replaced now is a good time :https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/MB-1705450305

He does an excellent job for a great price and has a quick turn around! He also does the horn modification so that your horn will work without the key in the ignition. Too me that was a big safety issue. I have a new spare and this winter I'll send my new one out to have that mod done and let him make sure everything is good. Below is a picture of the RCM. It is located in the big electronics box near the battery. There are 3 components located in that box, the RCM is the one closest to the engine. When you're taking the connections off DO NOT pull on the wires. Pull the connectors straight off. If they are stuck use a screwdriver to gently pry up while you are pulling the connector. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cro...a50f45ed81.jpg |
