Convertible top Care

I am about to put the xfire into hibernation this weekend or next. After lowering and raising the top quite a few times this summer, I am noticing very small crease marks on the convertible top where it folds when the top is down. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy this? Thanks

Same here ... they look silvery-grey, no?

Re: Convertible top Care

This is caused by the top being down for long periods of time, rather than the top going up and down. You can wash the top and let it dry in the sunlight or use a hair dryer at low temp and dry the areas that are in question. I have owned many cars in my lifetime and 95% of them were Rag Tops, and this has appeared on all of them. The only car that I have owned that did not do this was my 1976 Caddy Eldorado, it had a headliner that was attached to the top in certain places. The headliner would cinch up when the top was retracted and stop the top from "bellowing" when down.

I just purchased a Roadster and the rag top needs to be washed and conditioned. I have used Gtechniq on all of my cars. Gtechniq suggests cleaning with their W2 Universal Cleaner follow-up after bone dry with their Smart Fabric preserver/conditioner.

Has anyone had any experience with these products or can suggest other care products to clean and restore 2005 Rag Top?

Thanks for your assistance!

Valk knows best! I've used the RaggTopp protectant on a 2000 Volvo C70 that I used to have and on my 2005 Crossfire. The RaggTopp protectant works well. I like the way it looks when I'm done and it seems to repel dirt/dust. But I'm not sold on their fabric cleaner.

I think I'll try the "303" brand next....

Yup, 303 seems to be the most recommend protection. I just got done doing mine for the first time.

I've also used RaggTopp exclusively since my 2006 was purchased new, and the top still looks... well - NEW.
