I bought a new graphite SRT6 from the dealer for 27K taxes and title included about 3 weeks ago in PA. I love the car!! Bought an extended bumper to bumper warranty with it (7 yr/70,000 miles). I am looking forward to chatting with other crossfire owners like myself.

When the dealer sold it to me, he said that it comes with the 7 yr/70,000 powertrain warranty and a 3 yr/36,000 bumper to bumper warranty. IS THAT CORRECT?

I purchased the extended warranty anyways.

That is correct. I'm not a big fan of buying extended warranties, but you did the right thing by doing so with the XF. I did as well.
Welcome to the forum, and enjoy your new ride. It's a great car.
Is it brand new?

Thanks FP.

Yup it is brand new. It had 100 miles on it at the dealership. I am the first owner of this beauty.

That's a great price. They didn't call the police on you for stealing it, did they?

The dealer had these 3 SRT6's still on his lot for the last couple of years and was desperate to get rid of them I guess. My friend negotiated the price and we both got one for 27K each.

I guess he still has one and I'm sure he will give some lucky person a great deal provided they know how desperate they are to get rid of the SRT6.

DC has done a very bad job marketing this car. I was sold on it after finding out that the SRT6 basically has the MB SLK32 AMG powertrain for a lower price. I had no clue about this when until a month ago and I am sure that a majority of the folks out there don't know this (except for ppl who have really looked into a X fire).

Hey ws6vert, How is the G-35 coupe compared to the SRT6?

Which do you prefer? I know the X fire is very unique. I emailed Dr. Z and they said only 1,620 Xfire SRT6's were made in 2005. That means lesser than 1,620 were sold in the US. maybe even lesser than a 1,000. I have not seen an SRT6 on the road yet.

I bought my XF in July, and my story is very similar. It was a no brainer for me to buy it once I understood how bad they wanted to sell it. Plus I always liked the car, but had forgotten all about it. That's how bad DC's marketing effort has been. I too got a great deal.

I didn't get the SRT6. I bought a black Limited Roadster w/Nav. I paid 25K out the door. I came very close to an SRT, but decided against it.

Welcome to the family!!!

This site is wonderful - anything you need to know about your car, you can find the info! You can pick the brains of fellow owners, toss out suggestions, hear opinions, and obtain so much information. And the support you will get here is the greatest! This site will give you some great suggestions for little things and offer up some tips that cannot be found in the handbook!!

But welcome... may the Crossfire bring you much joy... its still the best kept secret!

You did the right thing. The SRT6 only comes with the 3/36,000 warranty because of the supercharger -- the 7/70,000 is only for the XF powertrain, not the SRT6 powertrain. As usual, the dealer really didn't know what he was talking about.

Well the G35 coupe handles better than the SRT-6. It's amazingly secure in the corners. But it is alot slower with only 280 hp. The G35 felt zippy until I bought the SRT-6! I do love all the bells buttons and whistles the G35 has. Still the G35 is a mid 14 sec 1/4 mile car and that is faster than 90% of the cars on the road. But I love the SRT-6. It's amazing and a blast to drive. Gets alot of attention.

I have both a Crossfire Ltd and an SRT.

I have a theory regarding the very sparse marketing of these fine cars...

They are made by Karmann who is about to set up manufacturing for Chrysler in this country,
Mercedes didn't want to lose its premium branding in the US, but after it effectively bought Chrysler needed to have an Icon car to help the Chrysler brand compete and draw in customers to buy the other new cars they had.

What better way than to use Chrysler renowned styling department and the very well respected 320 engine and body - there have been over 330,000 engine units sold all over the world.

Sure the critics complained it was old technology - it was and still is beautifully styled, and is extremely well built no matter what they say... they complain for example, that the rack a pinion steering isn't good, I seem to recall the Solstice and Sky have the same steering !!
and frankly until roads here reach european standards it wouldn't make alot of difference, besides how many of us can drive at anywhere near top speed ? Only the germans on the amazing autobahns designed for high speed motoring.

Anyway, the cars are made at one of the best plants in Europe alongside some really top end sports cars and will I think remain quirky... the SRT with all its speed and agility is likely to be a collectors car...

Enjoy, on our last 5,500 mile road trip in October we saw just 10 others and most were in Florida in the Keys, we have only ever seen one other SRT, whilst driving...

I understand the SRT6 was discontinued for 2007. The few SRT6 Roadsters built in 2005 will be very rare indeed, any SRT6 for that matter. I wonder how many even made it to the good old USofA.

I do have a hard time believing the G35 out handles
the SRT6!! I'm not questioning your opinion, but
height, weight, tires, and suspension point to
the SRT6.

Just did some quick research.
G35 Sport Coupe - SRT6
skid pad .92 - .9
Slalom 66.7 - 67.6
Pretty close.

Yeah I knew it was .92. That's about the only car less than $50k or $60k for that matter that pulls those kinda numbers. I get that from looking at the summary spec in the back of the car mags. I usually have to defend the G35 on this point. Drive one and see what I mean. Still the power of the SRT-6 is more fun and just about as good in the curves.

I guess the "BAD" marketing works for us. At least for now!

Hey Emthusiast, what dealership in PA (name, city and phone was that?). I will be in PA this coming holiday season and might see how desperate they are come blistery Pennsylvania winters to get rid of that last one. I'm from PA originally. My SRT-4 has been giving me some "issues" and I might trade up by selling the SRT-4 locally and getting an SRT-6 to race my wife's. (I will lose...I think there is some Andretti blood in her family line...). 27K out the door with tax license AND the extended Chrysler warranty for a new <500 miles SRT6, I'll sign up for that... Give a cost breakdown when you get a chance so I can have some ammunition for dealing with them. Base price, PA tax, license, warranty, etc...My email is: russfeirstein@yahoo.com...

I have seen some of the used low-miles SRT6s for around 27K on Ebay, but I need to check their history more.

The Lithia folks in Bryan, Texas already gave me the runaround in June '06 and kept my deposit for 45 days without delivering the car or paperwork. Had to nearly sue them to get my deposit back. Said they'd sell it for 26.5K, got my deposit money, then sat on it waiting to bump the price at every opportunity...

BTW - The SRT6's don't have the 7/70 powertrain warranty, at least not the 2005 model year. Limited, and the other Xfires do have 7/70 powertrain though. You were probably good in getting the extended warranty... Parts are expensive and will continue to get even worse over time. Labor is a killer too, even for "smallish" problems.

Don't forget to check to get the E-19 fan control module recall done, or at least check that is HAS been done. Affects all Xires, 32,700 of them.

If you get sluggish acceleration or responsiveness over time, it's the secondary cooling pump for the supercharger (see links, of which there are many, but the best one is titled "Sometimes Sluggish Acceleration".
