Was getting intermittent P0715 codes for the input shaft speed sensor and getting stuck in limp mode. Reviewed other threads relating to same symptoms. Had a great tech from yourmechanic dot com come over that knew a lot about Mercedes 722.6 transmissions. With less than 30K miles on the car, the usual O-ring trans fluid leak was fixed but it still was getting occasional P0715s. What was found is poor continuity on the connectors within the conductor plate. He said usually over time the speed sensor will crack but due to my low mileage, that was not it. The new conductor plate that I ordered had MUCH better contacts/pins that didn't wobble. The newer conductor plates have apparently fixed the flaws in the stock unit. After repair, SRT6 ran again like it was new. The wobble in the connectors give poor continuity to the speed sensor making it throw codes. Newer connectors on the new/revised conduct plate are much better.

Enclosed are pictures of old and new conductor plates. The "new" conductor plates have thicker contacts that are barbell shaped. The "wet" part pics are the old plate's pics. The "dry" part pics are the new conductor plate pics.

 

Here is a YouTube video describing the problem. If you throw this code, or your tranny goes into limp mode after a clunking shift at 2nd gear, and you basically stay in 3rd gear with no supercharger anymore, THIS is more than likely the issue. With a P0715 input shaft speed sensor code (mine was intermittent), either the speed sensor is cracked (the round cylinder on the right hand side), or contact is being lost (either permanently or intermittently) with the speed sensor contacts.
