CD Won't Eject - switches to radio instead.

When I try to eject the CD that is in the player, it just switches to the radio.
If I try to play the CD, it says "No CD" until I shut off the car.
When I restart, I can select and play the CD just fine, but if I try to eject or switch modes, it goes back to saying "No CD".

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Would disconnecting the battery help to reset the radio?

Thanks.

Step 1. Remove Radio from Dash.

Step 2. Place Radio in Nearest Trashcan

Step 3. Purchase a good Quality Aftermarket Radio

Step 4. Purchase a replacement CD for the one that was eaten.

Step 5. Enjoy your new BETTER SOUNDING and reliable listening experience.

The factory radios are crap and have less features than a Walmart Clock Radio. A good quality Aftermarket Radio from Pioneer Premier would be my best suggestion. It will sound 10 times better (especially with the "Best Stereo Mod") and you won't have to worry about reliability issues for some time. I believe Pioneer Warrants their Premier Brand for up to 3 years.

Thanks, but I'm hoping for a solution that doesn't cost a bunch and keeps the navigation.

If you have the nav system, I wouldn't throw it out! I heard the radio and Nav system are $1,500 bucks!
I have the Nav System but have never used it, but if you resell the car it might ad value.

$1,500?!? Where'd you find such a good deal? The cheapest Crossfire NAV radio I've found is $1,850.

If its under warranty, take it to the stealership and hope they can get it fixed by Christmas...

I have an appt with the local Chrysler/Mercedes dealership tomorrow.
They seemed ignorant about the loaner car until I started reading the Premium Care Plus info to them (thanks for posting it).

I checked the service manual, but the only way that it addresses this issue is to swap out the entire unit.

I just hope they can fix this in time not to mess up my plans for the Tail of the Dragon 11/10 & 11/11.

It could be that particular CD, does this happen with various cd's or only one in particular? Sometimes cdr's aren't recognized by the best CD players. Try another cd, not a cdr.

Only that CD, but until it comes out, I cannot try another.
It's an original, not a burned copy.

I had the exact same problem when they delivered my SRT-6 to me. Dealer ordered a new one and swapped it out- no problem. Took about a week to get in the radio then about 3 weeks for the nav discs. No charge on all.

I managed to fix this. :D

Pulled both radio fuses.
Ate breakfast.
Replaced fuses.
Ejected CD successfully.
Did reset & reloaded NAV CD.

Then found a nail in the shoulder of my right rear tire. :(

Ironic, I have the same unwanted accessory. Same tire, right in the sidewall. Not sure what to do about it. I know it can't be fixed. The tire isn't losing air though. I cut the head of the screw off at the tread and it seems ok for now. I guess I just want do much spirited driving until I can get a new set.
