Underhood paint on SRT's - Clearcoat or Flat?

I'm in a bit of a debate in another forum, and it seems that everyone else has clearcoat under their hood (or they think it does). They say their paint is glossy in their engine compartment.

Mine is quite obviously base only (as a lot of cars are these days), low or no gloss. Either that, or SEVERELY faded! lol

So, does your SRT have clear on the paint underneath the hood and in the engine compartment? Specifically the radiator support?

Mine is Graphite, no clear.

I have never seen a stock new crossfire with clear-coat in engine bay. my '04 didn't my srt6 doesn't. you are correct.

My limited didn't have clear either ('04), but it was also Graphite. I was wondering if Graphite is the only color that does NOT have clear...but it appears that either some do, some don't...or someone is mistaken.

Thanks for the info.

I'll have to check again, but I don't think there is clear under the hood.

No clear coat under the hood of mine. It is clear coated in the door jams and trunk area.

Same as above; just checked. It is well painted, though.

Not only is mine NOT clear coated, it appears to be 'flat' looking, almost like overspray (but it isn't, it is too even of coverage).

IMHO, That's because it is just base-coat. If you've ever laid base/clear, you'll see that some base coats can look 'rough' if they are sprayed with too much air. The clearcoat fills this minor texture, and adds gloss. Obviously, the smoother you lay your basecoat, the better it looks without clear. I would hope that Karman (or whoever built our cars) has their machines dialed in to lay that base coat down nice).
