Rpm restricted in park and neutral.
Today i noticed that when i had my srt6 in park or neutral i could only rev the engine up to about 4000 rpm . Does anybody know if that is normal ? I've got 2000 mi. on it ,but never noticed it before. I just installed a sl 55 amg intake system w/k&n's and i just installed the reflashed ecu . With the exception of the park or neutral problem ( if it is a problem ) it ran great. Both of those mods were worth every penny. PS I did look thru the owners manual but didn't find anything. Does anybody have any feed back ?

I have an 04 coupe and it is the same. I believe they all have a rev limiter in neutral and park and it has been discussed here in other threads.

If your in drive and moving and put it in neutral you can rev all you want. Not sure how the dyno pulls are being done, but I was surprised that I was able to rev to redline by doing this. When you put it back to drive it does take a second or two to catch back in gear. I wouldn't recommend putting back in drive while your redlining. Not like the old days when the chevy was cold and just revved the motor to keep from shutting off and slammed into gear. Gone, no wonder that 350 turbo needed rebuilding.

without either of these, you an just do a dyno run to 4000-5000 RPM, not all the way to redline.
