That might be tuff... There aren't that many out there. Personally, for $400 I think it's still a good price for the power it makes.

I know what you just ordered, don't get cheap now.

I assume you are talking about the NeedsWings cold air intake.
Why not just order it new from Rob?

$450 for the power it makes is very good.

I just wanted to give an extra praise to Needswings for the quality of their products. When I had an SRT-4 I ordered their 3" Downpipe w/ electronic cutout and it held up great for the year or so I had it. If I end up picking up an SRT-6 then the Needswings intake is going to be one of my first mods.

PS: Any way to rig up an e-cutout for the SRT-6. Those things are sweet and I want to shoot more flames.

Here's some of the prototype on my car during testing. The finished product looks basically the same, but is Powdercoated Silver.

A little bird told me that NeedsWings is working on an N/A version of the intake.

I don't mean any offence to Needswings intake pipe or anybody using it and I know it has proven numbers, but I still think it deface's an engine compartment that is a work of art. I know, who looks under the hood - well me and several other people that wants to see what powers my little blue beast.

I agree...but if someone would just modify their stock air boxes, they could make them fit around that intake and it wouldn't look too far off from stock.

If I am able to keep our SRT while my wife is back in school, I will do this afterwards. BUT, it will be 27+ months, lol

I looked into trying what you are saying and I'm not saying it can't be done, but it would be a tough job. When I done my SL55 swap I considered drilling a small hole in the top part of the OEM air boxes (in the back where it would not be seen). Then finding something that would gauge the suction like they use on heavy equipment & tractors that tell you when your air filter is getting clogged, (little red button pops up). I had thought of doing this just to find out if using the OEM air boxes would cause the S/C to be starving for air while running a bigger pulley. I still may do this one of these day's after seeing what was in my air filters when I was doing the SL55 swap, bugs like you wouldn't believe.

I would take the covers off of the stock air boxes and find a way to mount them to the engine/engine cover. You would have the stock look without the black boxes underneath.

Again, I haven't had one to work with - but I'm sure I could make it work. Especially if I got the ol' glass and resin out. I really don't dislike the way the Needswings looks, I just prefer to look 'stock' if possible.

To each his own ;) My brother and I both think the engine looks "meaner" with the intake on and the cover removed. It showcases the supercharger IMO....

I think it would look more balanced with two intake tubes. (especially polished)

All the intake air is only passing thru one radiator support opening; with two tubes, utilizing the other opening, perhaps you could see even more gains.

Then you just remove and polish the SC, plenum covers and valve covers. That along with polished tubes would look sic.

There is a local shop that polished the SS exhaust pipe on my KLX650C and was pretty darn reasonable. I need to take my SRT and ask for a quote.

I wonder if the magnesium alloy is harder to polish than your typical alum or SS?

I agree, if the engine was polished up and two pipe's to balance things out it would help the looks. But the main thing and I think everyone would agree, is that you are supplying the avaliablity of air that the S/C is capable of digesting.

Hey Steve, the true work of art is hidden underneath that cheap plastic cover. ;)
