Default SC Thought?

First time posting but thought I'd throw this out for discussion to help rid heat from our SC's...
I was cleaning up under the hood this morning and thinking about all the post on how to keep the SC cooler or atleast cool off faster. I was looking at the underside of the hood at that insulation pad which appears to seal up pretty tight against the top of the engine- Looks like throwing a big blanket on the top of our engines and holding the heat in. My thought was what if there was a heat tunnel (like a cowel induction system only to vent heat not draw air) that could be attached to the underside of the hood and allow the heat to escape back and out the back of the hood? I wouldn't want to cut or mess up the top of the hood as it is way to pretty to mess up.
I know there's some smart people out there who have done alot with there cars already.
Has anyone tried this?
Thoughts?? Ideas?

This thought has crossed my mind, but one of the biggest problems is that the engine compartment is sealed up pretty tight in the front, bottom and sides. There is a lot of room behind the engine to mount some type of blower to suck the hot air out and just blow it down the side of the tranny, but you would need to open up some way to get a fresh supply of air into the engine compartment.

I wasn't thinking of blowing...just allow a path for the heat to vent out.
my thought was when we were moving- driving- there would be some circulation of air and this would just help vent all the trapped heat out from under the hood.

on my old car I went to lowes, purchased 4 bolts that were about 1/2" longer than the stock hood bolts and some washers for around $4.00. Installed them on the rear bolts on the hood and raised the back about 1/2", you can also remove your back weather seal for more cowl effect. Once this was done you could see the heat rolling out from the back of the hood, it helped cool things down and was worth the $4.00 in parts.

Greetings, I have been doing several [zillion] changes to my cars and week one I deleted the hood liner. Removed the rubber strips on the front and rear of the engine compartment to allow more cross flow of air during forward motion and to assist cool down rates. You can see my dyno first try and see my deletes , sorta.

I run the car hard and want it to be as good as it can be and heat is a performance killer. For every 10 degrees F that the air charge is reduced the power goes up about 1 percent. I have modified a thermostat to allow simple swap of the stat to go to 160-174-or 180 degree stats, what ever you want. Factory style stats are available but your talking close to 200 $$$$$$$$$.

I want a bullet proof post and I am trying to make it out of easily available materials so others can do it with hand tools. I can do stainless but getting it is outside most peoples comfort zone. I will post it soon and then we can drop the temperatures a bit more.

One tid bit, I discovered is that the main engine fan is a speed controlled motor, and its operation is controlled by the computer, starts out slow at a few volts and under full heat operates at full 13 - 14 volts D.C.

Welcome to the forum, Woody
