"SRT" Grille Emblem
 

So I'm in the process of getting some "new" SRT-6 emblems for the rear which I'm going to de-badge the CROSSFIRE and leave only the SRT6 emblem on the trunk lid. Along with that I thought about the SRT emblems on the grilles of the 8's and wondered if they'd fit our grille with some minor modification.

Well, I got the grille badge today and snapped a photo of it. It's not totally secure yet but it will remain in that location if I decide to keep it on there. The badge is about $31 + the cost of whatever you buy to keep it secure.

Part number #5030355AB - probably under dodge or a quick eBay search will net results

What do you all think.


PS...it's too bad the stitching on the headrests is the "old" style cause I really like the normal script

Right now, nothing. It kind of wedges in there on it's own but I haven't thought of anything yet. I'm thinking some kind of adhesive

I just found out that the emblem will stick in that particular slot really well on it's own if you press it in far enough. To reinforce it I got 2 adhesives "Instant Krazy Glue" and "Loctite Extreme Repair" - this stuff holds up to 400 degrees without giving way

1) Remove the grille from the car, it will give you access to the rear of the emblem so you can seal the emblem to the grille.

2) I used the Krazy glue first to get a solid hold of "plastic-to-plastic" along the top of the emblem. This actually created a really nice hold but you can't always rely on one thing.

I let it sit for a good 10-15minutes...Krazy Glue dries pretty quick

3) I took the Extreme Repair goop and did the same exact thing and ran the paste along the edge. This stuff creates a flexible seal that should bond to both pieces of plastic. I also gooped up the clips that were close to the sides of some parts of the grille. I think there are 3 areas you can do this for more adhesion

You need to allow 24 hours for this stuff to cure but it starts to get sticky within 10 minutes.

I know it looks kind of messy but no one will see the rear part of the emblem anyway so if it holds, it holds.

I did this with my SRT-4, and I liked alot. I'm not so sure on this one. I'm going to have to look at yours for a day or so to decide. I wonder what it would look like on the lower grill?

Nice idea!;) For me, I'm not sure I like it. Something about the balance is bugging me a bit. The car has a pretty severe centerline with the spine design, and the badge throws off the centering effect. It adds a little more sport and takes away a little of the subtle elegance too. I don't really mind any of the badge ideas I've seen just as long as nobody plasters vinyl graphics along the sides of these cars.:cool:

Nice idea nice look. I just wish they (CHRYSLER) offered the SRT wheel for the Crossfire. It would definitely compliment your grille badge.

Gator - I took your idea and altered it a bit. ;)
Been pondering it for months and always thought they should have had the emblem on the grill, even if the other Chrysler SRT (300C SRT8) doesn't, but I digress.
I bought the same emblem off of eBay:

I took the 'tabs' off the back and coated the back, top, bottom, and sides with black Plasti-Dip spray:
Specialty Coatings & Adhesives, Industrial Coatings, Protective Coatings – Plasti Dip International
I then took the grill off and cleaned up the area to stick with rubbing alcohol. I bought some 3M automotive body molding double sided foam tape (from Wal-Mart. also easy to remove if needed) and applied it to the back of the newly coated emblem.
I then took some little clamps and tightened it down on the grill slats and let it sit for a while.
Put the grill back on and have driven it for a few days (up to 80mph) and all is well.

pics? I'm curious to see a visual version of your procedure...or at least the final product...curious to see how it differs from the one GatorLCA did last year.
