Default Front Brake Pad Question

please no smart a#& remarks

are the front brake pads rounded on the ends.

the brake calibers do not stick ...
the brakes do not shimmy... or make any kind of noise.

i am used to seeing pads wear even or flat..
what gives and has anyone noticed this on their crossfires.
oh also the rear looks even...

This is actually quite common. OEM brake pads have tapered edges while the race pads (Porterfield R4) that I bought did not. I'm not sure of the function.

I could hazard a guess and say it was to eliminate a certain amount of vibration and aid in the bedding process. It also looks like an easy way to make pads wear faster at the beginning of their life. Again, this could be to heat the pads quicker initially and bed more material into the rotors properly.

Hope that helps... Cheers!

My OEM brakes were beveled on the ends of the pads and my new rotex are also beveled.
