Anyways, $40k sure is a lot of money..

Some dealers put the spoilers and rims on the car. An a SRT design badge.

there was one recently on e-bay.

Hmm... Nice car, rare car, but rare does not = valuable now or even 20 years from now. There are plenty of people who bought specialty Corvettes in the 70s and 80s that were considered "rare" cars and put a total of 20 miles on them, then run through major collector auctions like Barrett Jackson with the plastic still on the seats (one this year was actually a dealer holdover that the dealer kept and never titled) and get back basically what they paid for the car. Not a real worthy investment.

I say the price has to be commensurably better than 40k to be worth it, especially considering it's been sitting there with the same old fluids and rubber for over 2 years now and isn't in top condtion to begin with. For comparison I paid 17 for my 2005 with 24k miles 2 months ago.

Best of luck.

I can't think of a 70's or 80's Corvette that would be worth much. Not exactly the heyday for performance.

Yea but likewise these days EVERY car manufacturer out there has something pushing 300hp plus, so having performance and rarity is no guarantee of future value. Even ZR1s only marginally maintained their value and they were considered groundbreaking for their time.

I just think if you're going to buy one of these you need to buy it because you love it and plan to drive the **** out of it to get the most enjoyment from the car for what it is today.

In other words, no one can really predict what cars of today are going to skyrocket in value or even maintain their value (I certainly would never have guessed TT Supras would be worth what they are today and they weren't even rare), don't overpay just because it's an '06.

The car has a scratch on the drivers side front fender and some rather heavy surface rust on the disks, good points for negotiations. The red on the SRT6 badge is faded. Not exactly new car condition. Minor problems that hopefully cause a major price reduction.

A pic or two for your viewing please.
What does your wife not like about it? Did she drive it? Good luck with your negotiating. Why wait until Saturday?

She drove it and disliked driving it. You cant see out the back (true). The steering wheel doesn't tilt (true). Everything is hard. (She weighs 95lbs.) Hard to turn the wheel, hard to select drive, shifts hard, hard over bumps, baritone. No dual memory positions for the pedals and seats. (The 300c adjusts the mirrors, seats, pedals, tilt and telescope and radio presets upon starting the car according to which key is inserted) In short, it drives like a sports car, a mans car and not a woman's car. She had to drive a turbo porsche for a while and she hated it. Everyone tried to race her. She makes good points. The amenities are not the best. The ride is not the best. It's a specialty car. But i love the way it looks, I love the way it drives, still cant tell about the power delivery. The torque at low speeds of the 300c is a wonderful thing.

I'm waiting for Saturday to ponder the test drive and what life will be like driving it every day. As well as how much I'm willing to spend.

Oh, trust me... You won't have any problems with the power delivery...

My wife loves hers too. Granted, it's a limited so the suspension is not as rough as the SRT-6. But, she loves driving mine too. She said she would trade her's for a AeroBlue SRT-6. If that one was only in the states.

Inferno, there are lots of AeroBlue SRT's in the states. Probably even in the republic of Texas.

Velociabstract, good luck with the negotiations. You will love the car if you get her.

I read your post about the rust on the rotors and that means nothing, rotors will rust up in a day of rain. It's bee sitting there for 2+ years, I'd be more worried about flat spots on the tires and that ding in the door you were talking about. Shoes aren't exactly cheap for these cars and it would suck to spend that kind of loot just to have to spend another 1500$ on tires for a new car!!!

I got my 2005 last January. It had 51 actual miles on it. It was 'used', as it had been titled once before. I paid 24K for it. Traded my 300C srt8 for it.........couldn't resist.

Nice Thread. I scored my 06 SRT6 a couple months ago in LA for $22K at a closed dealer-only auction. I felt I got a pretty sweet deal at the time...no complaints. The condition appeared as new, 840 miles on it...must have been cryogenically frozen. For "market" value this may be a good place to start, considering this is what the dealer would have likely ended up paying it...pre-markup.

If you're really looking for something specific you may want to try searching the off-lease dealer auctions "exotic" sales. They are usually higher-end BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Lexus, etc. A buddy turned me on to someone in the business who goes to these auctions and makes purchases on behalf of private parties. There's usually an SRT6 being sold at auction somewhere around the Country each week...surprisingly enough. At least that seemed to be the trend during the last few months while I was scouting out my own. Very interesting...but unlikely to last.

Oh yeah...the wife loves it too!! Cheers.

VIN64177 - US model/markings.

It's a sports car, which implies some basics for me. Low slung, great brakes. Lots of power and minimal creature comforts. This includes a stiffer ride, expensive tires etc. For me personally I would not want it any other way. These are great cars meant to be driven. I love being in the car every minute. Journalists complained when Mazda built the 3rd gen RX7. Susoension too harsh, minimal creature comforts, no cup holders etc. But they built what the journalist wanted. They called it a true sports car. In my opinion it is just that. Be careful what you ask for you just might get it. Good luck with the SRT6 I know you will love it.
