what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
$975 a pair. Anyone installed them ? Any dyno numbers ?

Re: what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
Very few people here have done headers. I can only think of 2 or 3 and they dont post much.
I should have some feedback soon. I plan to purchase a set of VRP's and modify them right off the bat.;) |
Re: what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
How do you plan on modifying the headers?
Or is that letting the cat out of the bag too soon. |
Re: what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
From what I understand thus far on the SRT exhaust the factory exhaust piping itself is fine, but the exhaust mainfolds are restrictive.
I would suspect that using the LET headers, swapping the cats out for high-flow cats, removing the resonator and using a higher flow muffler would really open up the exhaust. A true dual exhaust would be nice too. |
Re: what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
What I've read is that no header design for the SRTs has been proven to make additional power.

I always thought that when it came to FI, equal-length tuning, scavenging, exhaust velocity (and all that other stuff that's so important to N/A engines) was practically meaningless, and that it's more about maximizing airflow with big pipes and what not. |

Re: what's the verdict on the LET Motorsports SRT6 Headers ?
Headers as a general rule only give you more power at the top of the rpm range and tend to slow your off the line speed. If you want faster zero to 60 times stock headers will do you fine. If your looking for the most hp on dyno runs of best top end then headers would be a good choice.

VRP headers ordered.
We will know soon!;) |

keep in mind the car that did its testing also had a custom cold air installed on the same test for the red line. so it has been determined that the red line is based more because of the cold air intake. there is also almost 30 mods done to that slk |

And id like to know the mods too, i pmd the guy before purchasing my headers and he just said he had some cooling mods done. |

Then I bought a Viper (still have it, although it languishes in the garage mostly  ) and put on a set of unequal length ceramic coated headers and they brought up both the low end and top end (not that the bottom end needed anything IMHO). I also pulled the highly restrictive factory cats, and installed a 3" exhaust. The improvement was amazing to say the least. Unfortunately the advert for the LET headers say absolutely nothing other then "Click here to pay $975 for these SRT headers" ;) so we really don't know what they do aside from soak up your wallet  Seriously it would be nice for them to post a little info on what they tried to achieve with their specific header design, some dyno data to back up their claim, etc. Although I'm new to the SRT world, the exhaust seems to be tabo, as I don't see a lot of good data on exhaust upgrades. I've read that the Benz exhaust is fairly decent stock, but being that your trying to pump as much air through the SRT engine as possible, surely there are gains to be made by logical exhaust mods, unless Benz did such a great job of engineering it that any changes are minimal (which would be difficult to believe, but possible I suppose). Just my 50 cents worth (accounting for inflation and all). Brian |

Some people are pulling their resonators and welding pipes in their place... Not sure of the hp gains, but they definitely seem to like it, at least for the sound.
