Default SRT_6 intake for under $200.00

I made my own intake for under 200. dollars, the hard part was the filter, I know the cone type fits but i wanted the oblong one so it would not be so wide at the big end,
1. the filter $30.--------------------------------------------------------
2. 2 ea 90* elbow couplings with 10" legs $80----------------------------
3.3" L pipe $25---------------------------------------------------------
4. 3" S pipe $25--------------------------------------------------------
5. 2 3"x3" couplings $18.------------------------------------------------
6. 10 3" worm clamps $20.----------------------------------------------I picked up the parts at different places but i can get everything except the filter any time i want it, this was my cost don;t know what the shop would want if i told them it was for someone else but i can ask. jim

Very nice set up. The only question I have about this type of CAI, don't the filters block off air
coming into and through the radiator? What kind of engine temps are you seeing with this
setup? Also, notice that it looks like stock intake is on the other side. Is this functional, or
will it be replaced with a mirror of the setup you have on the passenger side?

Engine temp not effected, ran 100 mile trip at 80 mph with no problem,, I just left the stock left side on the engine and the right side in the trunk just incase i did have a problem, I will now remove it,, there is not enough room on the left side to mirror it unless you move the power steering cooling tubing and do something with the AC plumming ,,If i hook up a duel system I may use the stock left 1/2 intake connect it to a Y or T and the 3" on the right. the radiator gets plenty of air from below and around the grilles (upper and lower) jim

I did the same thing and noticed that on the top end of the rpm range, the silicone hose was collapsing, due to it being too long and compressed through the opening at the radiator support. I put a hard pipe in front with just a shorter straight silicone hose. This made a big difference and the top end wasn't falling on it's face anymore.

When I was at the track, I played around a little and my best times was when I removed the hard pipe and filter in front and made it a short ram instead with the filter right before the radiator support. So the picture below actually worked better at the track for some reason. I guess 1 less sharp bend and being shorter helped my car perform better. I would recommend this to everyone with a cai to test this theory out when at the track since you usually have enough time sitting in line in between runs to switch back and forth. It eases the waiting time for sure...

I spent $450 on the needswings because it's performance has been proven at the track.

You may have a dual intake, but the "y" piece is still constricting. Can you find a replacement?

Your system would probably work better if you replaced the sotck splitter with the SL55 splitter. Get rid of that restriction point.

looks cool, but likely blocks too much of the Heat-exchanger...... that's why the needswings is great, less interference with the cooling, which is the BIGGEST power restriction of ALL on the SRT-6.

btw, installed the johnsonCM30 last week, it is PHENOMENAL!!!!!
