240's modified Intake Manifolds

2 Attachment(s)
Here are my results so far with the newly installed modified intake manifolds from 240M3SRT6. I posted pics of the manifolds installed in this thread...

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=28936 and another pic below.

I went to PIR on Wednesday night and got four runs in on the new mani's, new LET tune and DR's. Time slips are here:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=29223

My previous best was 12.5 @ 112.6mph and with the mods I did a 12.2 @ 111.4mph. My 60' times were pretty good at 1.8 but the track felt a little greasy. Especially the second two runs. When I get back on Woodburn(next season) I think I will get much better numbers. They prep the track very good.

I was checking the install today and found one hose clamp loose at the Y on the drivers side and it would not cinch down. Got four new ones to fix that. I think I need to put some miles on the ECU with the new tune and mani's. I will setup to get on the same Mustang dyno I have been using and get the new numbers asap. I need to see what my AFR is now and make sure it is good.

All in all I am very happy with the new manifolds. The car feels much faster and stronger. Unfortunate that we got this done at the end of the season up here. Rain today, rain tomorrow, etc. etc. That also means I cant play on the freeway either.:(

I just got back from the dyno. Here is the graph. This is on the same Mustang dyno I have been using.

Previous dyno: 313whp max 310wtq max
New Manis: 325whp max 343wtq max

I dont know what the delta is between DynoJet and Mustang but have heard 15% to 20%. At 15% that would put my max whp at 373whp and 394wtq. I guess I will have to find a DynoJet and see for sure.:D

I have about 250 miles on the new setup and the car feels GREAT! Everything here is wet these days so I can go out and give it a good test. What driving I have done says the car is quicker and stronger.

I will send the data file to Jerry and see if he thinks we can tune it up more. You can see my AFR was 12.5 to 12.9 on the dyno and the boost was at 18psi. I hit 20psi at the track before the modified mani's. I am VERY happy with the mod and it took my 1/4 mile time from 12.5 to 12.2 on a track that wasn't prepped. Did I mention that I was happy?

Three tenths improvement eh? Pretty dang close to the mighty eleven second bracket! :D

Defiantly a cost effective mod. Did you feel more power on the lower or upper range? - Have you driven it on the street much yet?

I think I'm going to be adding this to my "Race Setup" mod list.

Are you going to consider a 100+ octane "Hot-Chip" tune when you run next year? With hot tune, some race fuel and a great track - I think you can shave another two-tenths and make it into the 11's :D !

Re: 240's modified Intake Manifolds

It felt pretty good all the way through. I just got to drive it to the track, in traffic and then on the way home. I had to go slow on the way home as it was getting into low 50's and misting. I started to drift on the DR's on a couple of curves. That is scary. The rain has stopped and I can go out and try it some more whe the roads dry up. Stree tires are back on.

I will have to ask Jerry what tune he put in. I will also see what the dyno shows and how my AFR looks if it needs to go for another visit to LET.

I think I can get down closer to 12 with this setup and more practice at the Woodburn track next spring. PIR is not prepped very well and was a little greasy feeling on the front half on the second two runs.

Hmm ET's are more based off the first half of the track MPH is a guage of how much power your putting down. Your MPH seems almost unchanged. Any way you can list your old best time slip with the new one? Also it has been said the stock intake mani gaskets are crap and leak easily you may be leaking a little at the top? But 12.2 is awsome i think you could be better based off your old best MPH =)

+12 Hp and -.3 off your 1/4 mile time are great results for the money...

Get the 100 octane "hot tune" chip from Jerry and next season at a sea level track and your --deep-- into the 11's........

Nice results Mike. Me, BLKFIN, SRTPOWA, and maybe SRT6inTulsa are supposed to hit up the track in the next few weeks.

If i can get some slicks by then and the weather is cool im expecting some good numbers.

Like projectmayhem mentioned did you use NW manifold gaskets if so how did you like them? You ever get that pesky torn t/b gasket problem fixed?

Re: 240's modified Intake Manifolds

I just noticed something if my observations are correct did you gain +33 ft/lb tq on a Mustang dyno?:o

MikeR Nov 7, 2008 02:54 PM

Re: 240's modified Intake Manifolds

I have the NW gaskets but I didnt install them yet. I started to and didnt like how they stacked up so I put it off. I may put them on this weekend. They will fit with no problem, even with the 6mm phenolics.

Yes. I got the new TB-SC gaskets today and the SSB SRT6 is back on the road. Only takes 10 minutes or less to take off and put on. See my post 'I need a part number' for pics and CORRECT part number. I bought two so I would have a spare.;)

No more racing for me this year unless I get to go to Phoenix in December.

Yes, I did gain 33wtq. I was very pleased with that.

What is the difference between these intake manifolds and the tweaked stockers Rob at NW sells now? They seem to both have better inlets, not sure if these 240's are ported like Robs. Tuning makes a big difference.

Sweet, I know you are new here.
Mike is no longer with us, he passed away a while back.

sweet. 240 oringinal came up with the idea of enlarging the inlets. He did a few sets of them for members here. I own a set. Later, after 240 moved on, Rob decided to improve upon 240's design and now sells the "tweeked" manis. They "look" stock and that is the appeal I liked with them. And they add a lot of low end power. 240 manis are no longer available...and Robs design is much cleaner and the only one's available now. Hope that clears things up...
