SL55 intake splitter / Code3 hybrid?
I was just wondering.....and I apologize in advance if this sounds dumb or if it impossible, but.....
Hypothetically, if I had an SL55 splitter....would it be possible to somehow cut or slice the back of it off and kind of rig a similar setup as the Code3 intake? Maybe drill some holes and retrofit some kind of filter? I know the fitment is ridiculously tight at least for us c32 guys, but maybe i could somehow prop it up a little bit and maybe rout some airflow to it? I'm not too familiar with the splitter, what its made of, or what it looks like in great detail, so I'm not too sure how feasible this is. I was thinking about going to a full SL55 setup but I would really miss the noise from the Code3 intake.
What do you guys think?

I think other than a cute sound the code 3 intake provides 0 performance gains and actually hurts power by sucking in warm engine bay air. And before you say its pulling cool air from the cowl with the rubber strip removed...if that were the case wed see gains from running an open t/b, which i can tell you there are none, you will in fact loose power. Ask how i know.
With enough hacking, grinding, and fabrication I'm sure it's possible. It's probably a huge headache not worth it It's just convenient to do on the stock diverter.
If you want gains and sound why don't you get the needswings intake or make your own?
I'm probably going with a full sl55 intake myself. I find myself punching it when I don't need to just to hear the whine, so enough of that

i cant do the needswings. it doesnt fit in my c32 and, from what i have read on this forum, a full sll55 intake sees similar gains as the needswings.
i just want to get more power out of my intake b/c i know the code3 isnt the best intake out there but i want to maintain the sound. so i was hoping that maybe i could get the sound back by just fabricating my own code3 style intake on the back of the 55splitter
and the whole punching thing? yah i can definitely relate. last tank of gas was 15.8 mpg.....

with regards to the code3 intake providing performance gains, didnt they show dyno results of it putting down some power?
With the SL55 intake I dont see any reason for a "3rd" intake that sucks in hot air.
The 3rd filter "adds hp" because of the restricted stock design, the SL55 fixes that.
Seriously... this 3 filter thing is starting to get to me.

I doubt you're actually getting 12.9 rwhp from just the filter itself. More so the intake is letting the supercharger suck in that much more air with the code3 pulley.
Now lets stop talking about all this 3rd filter nonsense before ACRUcrazy has a seizure, abandons us, sells his SRT-6 and buys a MINI.

SL55 splitter alone is ok. No need to go through all that work. You could always go the short ram route instead like I did for impressive gains. It may not be the best on the dyno, but it has always worked best for me out on the open road with all the air movement, especially the track. My back to back runs of 12.1 @114 mph don't lie.
