Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
Not sure if this was previously mentioned, but the Everstart 48-3 available at Wal-Mart fits the Crossfire, same CCA rating. I didn't check to see if there was a 3-year Everstart Maxx version, but it was only $62. I figure if it dies I'll just buy another. An Everstart every 2-3 years for $62 sure beats the OEM battery which is $200+. My OEM battery died after 29k and three years.
I had to use a small plastic spacer to get the bracket to hold it down (the Everstart is a bit shorter), but otherwise it fit perfectly. http://www.q45.org/gallery2/d/46945-...re+battery.jpg |
Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
Good find! A cheap replacement no doubt.
Keep in mind the odessy and Braill motorcycle batteries will save 40-45 lbs over the stock size. Brian(BDJ's Racing) runs one on his car and as low as 30 degree weather the car still cranks right up. However they are back up to the $150-200 price tag. |
Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
Yeah that Odyssey battery is one of the best/simplest mods I've seen. Its amazing how small it is.
My OEM battery stopped starting at under 30F. |
Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
I have a Deka ETx14, same as the Braille, but you do need to make brackets. It was around $75. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2353060

That is a damn good value for $75. Did you weight it?

Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
I dont think a stock battery even weighs 45 pounds, so ????WTF?? Make that I know a stock battery does not weigh 45 pounds.

They are both made by Johnson Controls. The Energizer is also about 1/2" shorter so it requires a spacer for the hold down.

Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
walmart no longer carries the everstart 48-3. however they carry a better model p# MAXX-48. this battery is 875 amps at 32*F and 700cca along with a 3 year free replacement 6 yr prorate warranty all for $86.08 out the door. fitment is snug and the only modification needed would be a spacer underneath the battery hold down strap. ill post pics when the gallery section lets me.

Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
This may have been asked already but can the motorcycle battery be used for everyday use or just for the track? I like saving money but would like to reduce weight also.

Re: Cheap battery that fits perfectly.
Does anyone know the Mercedes and/or Chrysler part # for an OEM replacement battery? Cost? My battery is 3 years old and still functions fine, but it can only be a matter of time. I'd rather replace it
on my schedule, not randomly when it could be very inconvenient. Thanks much. :) |
