What will it take to get consistent 11's
 

I know everybody is out for more power, but I honestly think with the power mods out now it should be no problem getting 11's. My theory of what is standing in the way for most of us is a lack of traction mods ie. motor mounts, torque converter (proven to work), driveshaft, drag springs, and a way to totaly disable the TC but still get two tires to spin. I have been going to other sites and have been surprised at how some people are able to drop their 1/4 times significantly without adding a ton of power mods and just doing the stuff mentioned previously. I appreciate or vendors coming up with new power mods, but to be honest once you get an intake,tune,and pulley this car is too powerful for stock tires (let alone if you add mani's and exhaust too). I would like a vendor to concentrate on traction/launch mods.

The cheapest traction mod I did on my 65 2+2 Mustang was take off the front anti-sway bar. You can put it back on for every day driving. It really lets the front end come up, greatly improving weight transfer. It negatively affects handling on the street though.

a few 'attainable mods,' i believe would help on top of all our other bolt-ons)

slicks, IPT valve-body upgrade, 12lbs racing buckets, battery relocation to rear hatch, drain windshield wiper fluid, empty gas tank as low as possible or install a fuel cell, lose bodyweight, resonator delete and cat delete also sheds quite a bit of weight as well.

you can also remove your hood on track day!!!:p

carbon driveshafts can be made for our car too, there is a thread on this somewhere on here.

i'll keep trying to remember more. shedding enough weight on our cars could be effective in attaining those consistent numbers.

the high stall torque converter i had just made my SRT spin on it's butt all day. even on slicks, i heard the same. the supercharger kicks in so much power down low.

I don't know, I didn't have traction problems with my stock tires at the track. I got relatively consistent 1.7 60fts.

The only thing im considering right now is getting a pair of wheels and slicks for track use only. It's fairly cheap to do, but right now though, like Glen, im hitting good 60's with the street tires so I just don't feel its necessary just yet to start upgrading. If companies like Needswings, LET, TVT, Eurocharged start making parts for better traction, im sure people will buy them.

Driving is very important, but it could be a number of things like track prep, tire, psi etc.......

IMO, all the mods in my sig+ hoosiers/skinnies, 12lb kirkey racing seats, lighter one piece driveshaft and a little meth injection for those really hot days/nights.:cool:

LOL. I was hoping Hooley would stick around longer so I could have put his car in the 11's. I'm sure he want's to be the first. It sure sounds nice.

i think we're going to firebird on friday night....fyi.....i know that is not exactly in your area and away from your "home court" but mike was telling me that he and other mbwordlers are planning on going then
