I guess that I am easily influenced by peer pressure, after reading about the interest in the side strakes I decided to try something.

They do look like stick ons and stainless steel is not enough lipstick for that pig. So I decided to try another tact, I fogged them with urethane black, to knock down the silver look and blend in with the overall low glare look.

It is came out as I hoped, might give some ideas for others to consider. With the black body color, this seemed like the best bet and the black fog actually made the silver come out like a pewter finish.

When doing spot painting, I dont clean the finish before hand and the photos are JUST after I pulled off the tape. I say this cause youll wonder what up. I figure that if any over spray does gets on the dirt, itll come off easier.

The sun has not been out much and the fluorescent lamp lighting does not show the effect well. After the paint has more time to cure Ill rub it out for more shine.

please post photos of the car outside without the plastic, i have thought a long time about painting my "accents" a darker silver.

From what I can see in the photos it looks really good.

What is that big speaker magnet for above the side strakes?

 

When I paint, the magnets hold the plastic GLOVE in place so that I just cut thru the bag where I need access. Saw it on a medical program, got me thinking. Gotta get good ideas where you can, Woody ENJOY
