When I started doing the hood scoop mod, there were a few questions about water and drainage of my design.

Well I finished getting some painting done and was in need of a good wash, prep and wax. While doing the wash, I realized that the soap would show where the hood design actually drained. So I sudzed it up to show how the runoff hits just to the rear of the radiator.

I had made a mock 1/2 hood to see the scoop positioning and it came out just where I wanted it to. The under hood shot also shows the grill operation with the foam highlighting it.

When the car is parked, the heat really streams out like it has a fan moving it. I was running on the highway today and the water heat gauge was 1/2 tick below the middle, the ambient temperature was 75 degrees ( our high to date this year).

As time permits, I will instrument the airflow over the hood and just behind the scoop. This is to detail the temperature of the air streaming over the hood to see (prove) how much heat is extracted by the negative hood scoops. I can tell you that sitting still lots comes out, a plus for sitting in line at the track. Cooler is better.

why in the last pic with your engine bay, did you cover up your idler pulley area? working on something secret? lol

Looks really good, i really rate that you have kept the original bonnet and just modified the stock bonnet with scoops. Very impressive cosmeticaly. Lets hope you drop those temps

I have been following a bit with this project for I have been really unimpressed with the availability (lack thereof) of aftermarket hoods for our cars. Having such a limited viewing from our cockpit really narrows the choices of scoops, any positive rise hindering views and IMO looking too gaudy. I have really enjoyed the negative scoops for their look and there function. I initially was looking for something like the new GT500 negative scoop but like the twin scoop layout better. I sporadically come across scoop inserts or non functional positive rise scoops but I am really just looking for something that I can just make a cut, pop in and bond, for a sportier look. I wish I had the time and skills to mimic this project but I don't and need an easier solution. SOOOO... has anyone come across a similar pair of inserts? Thanks in advance.

Too bad the side vents are not real. I hate fake vents, if I had any skill at all I would create real ones.

Woody do you think there is adequate clearance for a functional hood scoop in the middle of the hood?

I would love to be able to ditch my cai for a hood scoop that feeds air through a filter then directly into the t/b but wont injest water.

how about making a custom side strake, the OEM strakes are a bit to fat, maybe you can use that billet grill material, and I feel it would be perfect with just one or two strakes instead of the three.

or just outline the indentation with a contrasting silver paint
