I can't catch a break...squeaking coming from engine bay?
Ever since I started modding my car I've been having problem after problem, not all mechanical... some having to do with the people I've dealt with in route to gettin the mods but nonetheless I've just been having lots of trouble. I finally got my car running right and I decided to reinstall the modified stock supercharger pulley that I just recently found out was not the cause of all my problems like I was being told. The intstall went easily and nothing went wrong from what I could see but when I turned on my car I heard a loud squeaking noise that sounded almost like belt slip coming from the engine bay. Because I thought it was belt slip I decided to reinstall the Tighed belt wrap kit in hopes it would cure it... no such luck. So I'm stuck with a beautiful beast that sounds like an old beater. Any ideas? It sounds like its coming from the alternator pulley or the alternator itself. What makes it weirder is when the car warms up after a 5-10 minute drive the noise goes away till it cools down a little. Any help would be really appreciated. Ohh and thanks to Tighed again for filling me in that the standard nut on the tensioner pulley can be used to detension the belt... worked like a charm.

Have you taken into consideration that you are driving a Chrysler?

Old news, stick a length of hose in your ear and use it to focus the hearing, check the alternator, possibly a bearing due to tight belt. We gotta be aware of belt tension, these pullies are taking a real strain. Woody

My code3 pulley squeaks just a little every time it kicks in when cold. After the engine warms up it goes away. I would think it is a clutch engagement problem.

Lol, I joke, I joke... But on a serious note.... I've only had the belt wrap kit on for less than 500 miles and my car only has about 7000 miles on it total so you guys think a bearing would of failed that quickly? I'm going to do the whole hose technique and see if its actually the alternator pulley failing. Thanks for all the help so far. Special thanks to Anthony for the words of wisdom I can always count on. Brandon |
