Default Dual CAI w/ Ginormous filters

So back when I had my N/A I bought these big *** filters to dress up the engine bay..you know just something to make it look better inside. Well, I never used them and they've been sitting in my closet for about 2 years. When I got the dual CAI, I was wondering if these filters would fit inside the front grille to use just for drag racing...well they fit!! I wish they could fit with the grille on but these filters are much bigger than the Xstream ones.

I have no way to test if these are better than the Xstream filters with the dual CAI (~750CFM) but they have the open top with a concave cone which should help in airflow. I'll see how the filters that came with the CAI compare but we all know that it's hard to duplicate runs in the 1/4 mile. I'm going to the track on Friday (weather pending) so hopefully I'll get some runs in.

On the car (sorry for fuzzy pics, taken w/ camera phone)

THat should reduce the intake restrictions a bit more, and feed your engine better. Looks good too. Woody

i cant see the inside fo the cone but if those are the cheap filters on ebay with the quarter sized aluminum disc on the inside get them the hell off the car! i have seen waay to make srt4 turbo's destroyed due tot he disc gettign sucked in and killing compressor housings. on the srt6 if it makes ti past the throttle body it woudl destroy the supercharger.

sorry to **** in your wheaties but there is a reason we use k&n's if you want we can get some even bigger monster k&n's to use withotu the grill but i dont think they woudl be needed.

here is a picture showing the disc in mention...

Come on Gator, let's see some numbers from the track! You've got that good Florida DA on your side.

Not in the summer time...it's about 1800-2000 right now, if not worse. Only in the winter do we see negative DA's. I'm going tonight if the weather holds.

I'm also going to be dyno'ing my car today using the different filters.

Your kidding right? That is better DA than I've ever seen here in AZ. I would be curious what you would run, so I could compare it to my time with the same DA. I say your closer to 12.6's.

Unless your taking a leaf blower to the bigger filters while on the dyno, I don't think you will see the full gain.

Ended up not dyno'ing....his garage was full but weather looks good right now

Cruzin...yeah I know they're better than out west but we get spoiled by the winter time . I would say a good outing will be 12.6 considering I'm running All-Seasons plus using the new intake. Anything better than 12.6 and I'll be happy. I did rip a 12.5 before I had my re-tune for my exhaust, last outing with the new tune wasn't so great as I couldn't hook up. Might need to ask for DR's as a Xmas present from the fam

I'll put in a good word with Santa for you. LOL. Love to have a taste of that great weather. Was going to Sacramento this weekend but weather and fires weren't cooperating. Hoping to get out there in October and get sub 1000' da weather. Enjoy and have fun.
