Great tool for DR's

If you use DR's and change tires on a regular basis I found this at sears for 169.99. It works really good and makes changing tires a whole lot easier. It includes 2 batteries and a universal charger along with a short 1/2" ext.

That's not a bad price. However, I just bought one one-bay for $27 delivered. For as often as I use it, it will do the job.

Link works fine for me.

I've got a similar tool under the Goodyear brand that I picked up at PepBoys a few years for half that price. Works like a charm when I'm rotating tires, etc. Used to use it at the strip to mount up my DRs on my other car while waiting in line for the place to open. Very handy, no doubt about it.

BTW, I would still hand torque the lugnuts when installing though. ;)

What is the correct torque?

Re: Great tool for DR's

I bought a 1/2" socket adapter for my ordinary cordless drill for $1.50 at Harbor Freight (cheap Chinese tools)

Sure, I have to use the tire iron to break the nut loose, but once its loose, the drill zips those lugs right out. It also zips them right back on, and you use the tire iron to torque them down.

Easy-peasy and cheap too. Thanks go out to Rob@NeedsWings from whom I stole the idea. ;)

According to the service manuals for both the SRT6 and Base/Limited the torque specs for the "wheel mounting bolts" is 81 ft-lbs or 110 newton meters.

is a newton meter different than a metric meter???? Or did Sir Issac just have to have his own??

a newton is a measure of energy...

a newton meter is equivalent to a ft/lb... they aren't 1 to 1...but you get what i mean...

Re: Great tool for DR's

Now why would the right hand be stronger than the left?:p

aluminium rims subject to cracking if torqued to tight.
newton metric less than ft/lb. remember the broken s/c bolts due to 20 ft/lbs not newtons?
