Seller's remorse-sold SRT bought Vette
For those lucky SRT6 owners. I traded my SRT6 not because I was unhappy with it but because of Peer pressure. I auto cross and do track DE days with a group of friends.
I did very well with my stock car (Good tires, Inmotion tune, Needwings CAI). But always wanted more. Other drivers never walked over to look at my car and I was somewhat shunned until they observed the performace. Then I did get some good comments. Nerver the less I was pressured into a 07 Corvette with track package. I will tell you this.
The SRT 6 has smoother power delivery, more refined engine and tranny sounds and shifts. More interior storage (convertable to convertible comparison). The SRT turns tighter and has better visibility. The interior of the SRT6 is FAR more modern and stylish. The ride of the SRT6 that is described in virtually every single magazine write-up as Harsh is exactly the same in the Vette. The SRT feels solid and the Vette being 12 inchs longer and wider feels large and heavy. Wide open throttle on the SRT with CAI sounds awsome and refined. WOT on the Vette is crude and rude, almost punishing in the cockpit even with stock exhaust. Idle is rough and loud unlike the SRT6.
Please keep your one-of-a-kind cars, the handbuilt AMG quality and forget the Chrysler bankruptcy-discounted model- island of misfit toy image given to it by Car and Driver, Motortrend and the like. It is now quite obvious to me that they are slanted through advertising and did not present the machine for what it is.
I traded and spent an additional 15K for a name only.

....never give in to this
I'm sorry for your disappointment but then again you can always dump the Vette and buy another real cool SRT6 and lose some $$ I'm sure

Awesome write up and I'm sorry for your loss. Doesn't chevy have the buy back guarantee? Get that SRT back and enjoy the attention you get from everyone else on the road.
I've run on a road course with a stock C6 with Hoosiers and he's a bit faster than I am but the vettes transmission overheats and goes into protect mode. (or whatever it's called) So I hang around for 6 to 8 laps and then he has to pull into the pits to cool down. I'm shocked that the Vettes transmission overheats, after all, it's a sports car. The modified Vettes are WOW fast. I'm the only SRT that participates on track days. The Vettes vary from 2 or 3 to a dozen. I prefer being unique. But I don't feel bad for Vette owners at all, great cars even if they need an aftermarket trans cooler.

i've never been a fan of the crossfire styling. But I admire the sleeper look it has and the looks on people faces when people see how quick a srt6 is. Everyone already knows a vettes fast, so even if you do well its expected.
You know, a lot of people would just disappear without returning and telling us your thoughts and I admire your honesty. Made me feel good anyhow. I am a car enthusiast meaning I respect and admire many makes and models. I have never been a big fan of thinking what I have is the only car worthwhile or would give a perma-woody when driving. I could list 10 cars without hesitation I would love to own but threads like this help put a smile on a lot of SRT owners out there.
Thanks

Thanks for posting this as my plan is/was to trade my SRT for a LS3 Vette or Z06 in the next 3 years or so. I know stock for stock the Vette isn't an upgrade (other than in handling performance). However it's aftermarket is much MUCH healthier. Getting into the 10's won't even be hard (with a little investment of course).
The biggest disappointment is the way you describe it feeling. I like the small wheelbase and toss-ability of the SRT-6. Vettes seem huge in comparison and apparently it drives that way too. That's unfortunate.
God willing if I'm financially able to I'm still going to pursue the LS3/LS7 Z06 route eventually.

Toss-ability is a good way to describe the SRT. When I first posted this I had just drove home the 7 hours from the trade and purchase. The Vette did have a limited slip which was a benefit over the SRT for the snowy roads. I too thought the aftermarket would be cheaper for the Vette. Hell I cant even get a set of floor matts for under $109.00. CAI's are over $400.

just remember cruzinquick it isnt the cost of sl55 that gets ya, its the mauintenence!
2500 for a shock, 4000 for the airide system which is known to fail. this is just acouple of the issues. i wanted a 55 before i got my 32 and the parts $ changed my mind in a hurry. oh yeah 3000! for a complete brake job!! thats pads and rotors! labor extra!!

sixshooter, having come from the vette crowd, I couldn't believe the srt when I was bringing it home for my wife to drive, I was in the market for another z06, but after driving the little srt, I told her, I would save her $$$ and mod the srt instead. I am now dealing on a coupe to go with the roadster. The only vette I would own now, I can't afford...so I am sticking w/ the srt6's...thanks for your post
