The engine is probably well over $10k.

Default 04 Crossfire Coupe

Your pricing information is incorrect on the Crossfire. Be aware that not all online info is correct. I am a Chrysler Sales Consultant and the Base Price of a Crossfire coupe is $33,620. Add the 5 sp auto with autostick and with destination you are up to $35,570. The automatic has a retail cost of $1,075 and destination of $875. I have just reviewed our internal Chrysler site to check current pricing info and the 05 Crossfire roadster has not been officially released. If anyone reading this is interested in price info on the Crossfire or SRT6 I would be happy to supply the info to you via e-mail, or check out our inventory online at ewaldauto.com

I happen to work for a DCX Business Center. The pricing that went out to us in an e-mail from corporate on 3/15 listed the MSRP prices posted here:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...hp?p=9233#9233

I did not list wholesale prices. That would not be fair to the dealers. However, if a consumer wishes to purchase under MSRP and closer to invoice, that would be a deal between the dealer and the consumer.

The prices posted on that link were not set in stone, however the forcasted prices given to us on that date. I'm sure it does not include options like auto transmission, different tire selection, etc.

What is the difference between the 2005 Coupe and the Limited Coupe?

Limited = same as it is now

Regular = less options, not quite sure on what they are taking off. Heated seats has been suggested, non leather seats, etc.

NO...heated seats, power seats, leather, low tire pressure warning system, cheaper radio, fog lamps, homelink and only available in 6 speed.

Above says 6spd, which is the manual.

Auto is 5spd.

In David Burns poll on auto vs manual, the auto got 68% and the stick got 31% so a lot of folks seem to "bother."

I've driven both for over 500 miles. I must say the auto is the best setup in any sports car I've driven.

I still took the 6spd. I made the mistake of purchasing a turbo awd eclipse in auto. Traded it in less than 6 months. Lost my ***. After that day I promised myself I'd never go auto with a sports car again.

However, the response in the Crossfire auto is great. Different shift points (up and down) depending on the throttle position. Auto stick responds pretty quick itself.

My comment was regarding the SRT being only in automatic just as AMG Merc. Sorry but I think it is a marketing mistake that makes it a boulevard cruiser and not a GT or sports car. BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Alfa, Maserati, Ford, Honda etc. don't make that marketing mistake.

I am with you on that, but from what I hear, Mercedies makes a stronger auto tranny than the manual.

Not that it is even close, but have you ever been behind the wheel of an F1 shifter in a current model Ferrari? I drove a Modena F1 last year. I was actually shocked how fast and HARD that thing shifted. Even the match shifting between each down shift, kept the power planted to the rear wheels, no matter what you did, but did it perfectly. I don't think you could outshift / handle an F1 style shifter.

I however still prefer to run through the gears. I think the crossfire SRT6 is more of a production concept vehicle with a little extra kick. Not a race car. We have to remember this. You want something you can beat on, get a new Lotus (hot). I think the Crossfire is more of a class kind of car. Besides, do you really want to replace those rear tires every week?

I agree that an auto clutch with paddle shifter is excellent, but that is not an automatic. I also think that the "daf" auto transmission is excellent, such as found on Audis or Nissans. Any transmission which doesn't "absorb" power for shifting, unlike an automatic, is cool.

That's called Sequential Transmission. It's a clutchless manual.

The Crossfire is a great car. Unfortunately the pricing is a bit optimistic. I got mine brand new for a bit over $31,000 with auto and better tires and I had dealers fighting over me to sell below invoice so that is a savings of around 20% eBay has plenty of new ones around $30,000 and I almost got one for $28,000 but shipping from NY to CA would have eaten up some of those savings plus it was my 3rd choice color. I think the SRT-6 will suffer the same fate. Lack of advertising although only slightly fixed by the new chrysler commercials and the overall fact that chrysler has not had a hit sports car for as long as anyone can remember will have dealers and corporate slashing prices as soon as the first few buyers will be done and the next year rolls around. Expect to be able to pick up a brand new SRT-6 at the same 20% off or around $40K + / -; + for Roadster, - for Coupe which will be a good deal. Otherwise I feel that I will be migrating to the Corvette C6 forum which at $40-50K will have more HP, be Faster, and have options like Magnetic Ride Control, touchscreen Nav and DVD player and Keyless start which is like the coolest thing in the world.
