Car won't start! ... need help diagnosing the issue
Over the weekend my SRT initially had a issue of a really rough idle when I came to a stop light. I turned the car off at the light and re started and everything ran fine but a check engine light came on. The next day I go to autozone to try and get the code but as the ground was wet the employee would not go read the code.. he refers me elsewhere and I go try that and it closed already. So I go home and decide to disconnect the battery and reset the code. Had the battery disconnected for a half hour and I reattach everything and the car will not start. I went and bought a new battery as the car was still on stock and it had corrosion issues so why not get a new one. Hook it up and same problem it wont start. All the lights on the dash flicker when trying to ignite the motor as it it makes click noises. I had the CPS replaced a few weeks prior as that went bad. I am completely lost and cant think of what the issue is. Can anyone here give me some guidance on what I should look at before I get it sent off to get it looked at?

EDIT They replaced the ground cable completely. It was corroded inside the cable itself and I guess it could not be seen. 'Search' is your friend and mine. |

I believe I'm going to have to inspect the cable ends again tomorrow and try and deep clean on them and if that does not work I'll replace them. Lets hope those work and if not to the shop it goes :(

Re: Car won't start!.. need help diagnosing the issue
I had the exact same issue. My battery died on me while the alarm was activated. Manually opening the door produced the alarm (very loud!). I unplugged the battery and pulled the alarm fuse.
Upon installing a new battery and replacing the fuse, I tried restarting the car and also got everything to light up, but just got clicking. I closed the hood (previously I was leaving it open while I was reinstalling and testing), and it started right up! No problems since. Try the easy stuff first: close all doors and lock car. Unlock, get in, close everything and try it. It's worth a shot before you go down another route. Good luck! Jeremy P.S. If this works for you report back so future searches yield valuable results. |

I got it fixed! Ended up being the cable ends still had some corrosion hidden on the bottom end. Amazing how finicky the car is about voltage

It's a trade off, you either have a battery that stores a lot of power or you have one that has a higher cca. It all depends on the number of plates in each cell. More plates equals higher cca, less plates equal more reserve capacity. The OEM Varta battery had around 640cca, with a reserve capacity of 150 minutes. This was a good battery and more than adequate for the task. My earlier post, lost in the past these days, explains this in more detail. Follow the sites at the bottom and you can learn more than you ever wanted or need to know about batteries.;) Light weight batteries do not store much power, they cannot because there is no mass to store the power. The heavier the battery the more power it can store. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post340783 |

Less plates giving less CCA are stronger batteries as long as the battery weight is the same and the design equal. Stronger batteries last longer than batteries that have to give out a lot of CCA which weakens the battery integrity over time. This car needs a strong and steady battery not necessarily a high CCA, which only comes into play when starting. Buy a battery that suits your driving conditions. |
