The people making comments on that page must have overdosed on HATERADE. Nothing but hate for the Crossfire. To each their own I guess.

Re: Rudy's V8 Crossfire on Jalopnik...

I've always been a big fan of engine conversions. Especially European cars and American muscle, i.e., Bizzarini, Jensen Interceptor, etc. The Euro cars, even going back to the '70's already had the chassis, brakes and suspension, but were usually a little short on HP.

I've done a couple Ford EFI 5.0 into '80s Volvos, Subaru Legacy 2.2s into VW Vanagon (don't laugh, but about a 60hp upgrade to make it drivable on todays roads) and presently a '95 Camaro V6 into a 1971 MGB GT (about a 100 hp upgrade).

The thought I wanted to share here is something I've considered. GM presently sells an ERod LS1 engine which is 50 state emissions legal on all OBDI cars up to 1995. The talk is, there will be a similar OBDII version for later cars.
There are some nice buys on non-SRT, high mile Crossfires.
I'm not a purist (I'm not sure one can be when referring to a Crossfire), so an LS1 backed by a 6 speed manual or a paddle shifted auto would make a nice combo..IMHO.

I own an SRT Roadster an am impressed on how rigid this chassis is, even for a convertible.

What a great platform for future DIY hotrodders like myself.

Wow, wish we all had some extra money to do the swap, that would be awesome! Congrats to the owners of that gorgeous yellow monster! :D

I totally agree with you. Finding a straight higher mileage Limited or Base for a song and drop in a LS series crate motor and 6 speed tremec tranny would be a hoot!
